11-2.........yeah but 7 of those wins are vs SF,Arizona,StLouis,Houston............they were lucky as heck to get by NyGiants and Dallas AT HOME..........beat a hapless Philly team that gave them 28 points gift wrapped.....

Maybe I am wrong but I dont really see a 11-2 team .........maybe they will prove me wrong come playoff time but I just am not that convinced even with that stellar record...........

yes..if they play the giants in ny they would get stomped...having said that, if they get home field advantage I think they win at least game at home....ther nfc just doesnt have the teams like the afc does and seattle gets an easy ride

They have a great running and passing game. THe d is the question mark. I think they are as strong as anybody in nfc and with homefield will be tough to beat. Holgrem is a great coach. You could say the same about the colts i do not think they are a 13-0 team either but they are.

You catch many more Seattle games than I......but I think many would disagree here. His teams come out flat way too often. He's been in total control of that organization for some time now.

I think a loose Tennessee team gives them a game after Seattle faced a couple of scrub opponents.

Here's the problem guys........Seattle is hard to beat at home and the reason is the crowd. The fans here are absolutely outrageous and the opposing teams can't hear themselves think. This Seattle team truly believes that they can't be beaten here in this stadium. They have a great home record here over the last three years, second only to New England. Be careful.........A team that knows that they can win is a dangerous one.

Seattle remind me of the colts in recent years when the heat is on (playoffs)- they crumble. I agree that the NFC is no where near as strong as the AFC this year (quite obvious), and agree with thom24ad that the NFC is really up for grabs this year. Home field will cetainly help the hawks thru the playoffs but there are a few teams that could certainly go in there and walk out with a win IMO. Should be an interesting year of playoffs.

Ok, ok, I have to reply given that I live in Seattle and have followed the 'Hawks my whole life. A couple of things... I don't think they are as good as their 11-2 record indicates. They are a very good team, but they could easily be 8-5 or 9-4. I also don't think their defense is too great either. One thing their D can do, however, is get to the QB. They have a ton of sacks this year, something they didn't have last year. And that's with Grant Wistrom deciding to phone it in this year. They also have a couple of stud rookies at LB, Tatupu and Hill. I think their secondary is their biggest weakness. Trufant had a great rookie season, and since then he has been very average. Hamlin was arguably their best player in the secondary and he is out for the year.

Homefield will be HUGE for them. They are a great home team, and a lousy road team. I've always said to even have a CHANCE to get to the SB, they would need homefield throughout.

As for Holmgren being a great coach? I don't even think he's a GOOD coach. He's been living on borrowed time here. When he first got to Seattle he said he had a "five year plan," which meant he would get them to the SB in 5 years. He's past 5 years and he hasn't even gotten close. He also blamed the previous coaches and GMs when he first got here for the players that were not performing. He had a point, but up until this year not much had changed. And that was after he had drafted "his" guys. And this is off-topic, but he's also pretty poor at drafting players, often reaching when he doesn't have to.

One last thing I'll say about this team... they have proved me wrong this year. Everyone wants to talk about them ALMOST losing to the Giants, Cowboys, Niners, etc. Well this is the thing... in past years they WOULD have lost those games. This year they are finding ways to win them. It may not be impressive, and it may not be successful as far as handicapping goes, but they are unlike any Seahawks team I have ever seen in that respect. If they are going to lose in the playoffs it will have to be a team with a very good offense, because they will score on any defense in the NFL. Their offense is second only to the Colts.

1) when is the last time they won a playoff game

2) their homefield dominance the last three years......how much did that help them vs stl in the playoffs last year

3) fat mike......when's the last playoff game he won without a guy named favre as his qb

4) their performances vs good teams this year has not been that impressive when compared to their performances vs the horrible teams on their schedule

5) that defense is a major concern

not saying that they wont make the superbowl but this team is FAR FAR from a strong #1 seed who is unbeatable at home in the playoffs.
