Since my cell varies between "Service", "Roaming" to "No service detected" when I walk through my house and there's no one spot that offers good service, I keep my landline. It's not that I use it that much but, with elderly parents, it gives me some peace of mind.

I could give 2 shits and or a duck if people laugh about my preparedness. Keep laughing, but don't come to me for food, water and protection when the shit hits the fan.

I'm driving to Bowling Green and finding sixfive when the shit hits the fan!

About a year ago I realized that, uh, I hadn't received a legitimate call on the home line in the 6 previous months and somehow my bill was like 70/month. Cut that out, obviously.

I monitored the calls on my home phone for about a year. If I didn't have it, I would have missed 2 calls I would have liked to have taken. That's it.

Anyway, I converted my landline to a cell number which is our third cell phone and costs 10 bucks a month. Immediate savings of almost 40 a month.

Had one like it when I was young Vinne--I could call up more fish than you carry in just a few minutes.

Take to rock dykes in river put both wires in water --crank like hell--grab dip net and pick em up before they recover a swim off. Had to be quick as only stunnned em for short time.

Verizon IS my problem. When I had a work cell, it was Alltel and got mediocre service. I thought, finally, with the merger, I'd have decent cell service but, alas, it was not to be.
