OK here is the question since we have a few down days until more games.
DOES AN UNDEFEATED BYU PLAY FOR THE TITLE?

Of course this is based on all teams having 1 or more losses except for 1 other team like Fla,USC,Tx.

New polls out and BYU is sitting at #9 already.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings

If you look at it then I just don't see how at this point they would not go ahead of any 1 loss team.
They beat OU and they have FSU coming to town soon. Also play TCU(#16) and Utah(#17).
An already high ranking and a schedule with 4 ranked teams on it is impossible to ignore. ALso CSU and Air Force all looked solid in week 1 which should help. Here is the real kicker, every game I mentioned above is at home.:scared

Now let's talk about the teams above them.
1. Florida- has to play @LSU and SEC title game.
2. Texas- has to play @OKST also has OU.
3. USC- has to play @OSU(Sat) and plays @CAL and @ND.
4. Alabama- plays @Miss also plays LSU and would have Florida in SEC title game.
5. Oklahoma St- plays Texas and @OU.
6. Ole Miss- See Alabama above.
7. Penn St- @Mich and plays Ohio St
8. Ohio St- Plays USC(Sat), @PSU,@Mich.

So in summary you can eliminate 2 of the 3 SEC teams because only 1 would goto a Title game.
You can at least eliminate either Texas or OKST playing each other.
You can eliminate either USC or Ohio St playing each other.
I know it is early but this is what every BYU fan should be cheering for:
USC to beat Ohio St then Ohio St beats PSU and Cal beats USC.
Then for OU to beat the winner of Tx/OKST.
I think those 4 games determine the fate of BYU if they go undefeated.
The only team behind them that could ruin this is if Cal were to go undefeated after beating USC.

You can almost guarantee that the BCS would not allow an undefeated BYU go ahead of an undefeated Cal.

As you can tell I am bored at work today. Maybe I should do some.:mj07:

Great call on the game yesterday. I was there and I knew we were in trouble when we couldn't get pressure on the QB. but anyways...You know that there will be upsets will all of these teams..BYU could easily could run the table, but I think Texas and Florida run through there schedule pretty easy. BYU's offense better show up against FSU. I agree though that BYU needs to root on some upsets for them to have a shot. They won't jump Texas or Florida

The problem I have with BYU is that I just don't think they are that good.
Meaning I thought Utah of last year was much better than this BYU team.
I think Miami will beat OU with or without Bradford as OU with Bradford was not really showing me much in week 1.

If BYU played Florida,Texas, or USC next week on a neutral field then they would be 21+ point dogs even with win over OU.

FSU should give BYU some trouble but FSU secondary better get much better before that one.

here is a question what if miami runs the table?...looking at their schedule they could. They also have the hardest schedule so far. Miami has some explosive players. They are fast!!!! They also don't drop the ball like Fsu did. I was on the 15th row so i really got to see the speed. i hope that florida, texas, Cal or USC and miami go undeafted. That should be entertaining at the end of the year

This is why I don't really care for Pre Season polls.
What has Florida done this year thus far to warrant #1 ranking. Answer is NOTHING.
They #1 because of last season and who they return and not for actually playing football this year.

There should not be a single poll released until after week 4.
I mean look at Miami playing @FSU(#18), GT,@VT, then OU.

If they are undefeated after those 4 then they should be Top 3 with ease in my book.
Problem is with the polls already out then they will not pass any of the Top 10 unless that team losses.
Texas and Florida are good but please play somebody with a pulse. Time to punish teams that force me to watch them play Charleston So and La-Mon types for 3 sometimes all 4 non conference games.
At least Florida plays a Miami or FSU once a year.
I am a Texas fan and am bored of the weak non conference crap.
Some have not been there fault as Utah backed out of a deal and Arkansas lost everyone coming off a Cotton Bowl season.
This year Texas has no excuses as that schedule is just plain lame.

Miami schedule is just to hard to run the table in my opinion. To have to play at that level week after week will catch up to them I think.

DONT SLEEP ON PSU>>>>What's funny about all of this, is if PSU goes undefeated no way they keep JoePa out a title game. Now the catch, that might be the worst fucking D-1 schedule for a contending team EVER. They play about 12 home games, don't leave home for the whole month of September, and get IOWA/OSU both at home and only Michigan on the road where they have struggled in the past. Um, BYU would have played and beaten OU/TCU/UTAH/FSU enough said. At least they have the BALLS to play OU and FSU. I hope all of this happens, but it is only week 1 and yes I am bored too....

Is ESPN doing the CUSA and MAC game stuff on Tuesdays and Wednesday again?
What week does that start because the next two nights without it are miserable.

the great thing about college football is that it is a argument. The way they do things makes it interesting to see how it turns out. I was looking at florida's last three championships....great stuff..florida has never gone undefeated so last year utah goes undefeated and doesn't get a shot...06 boise goes undefeated no shot....96 would be diffrent if the rules were the same as today's....fsu and arizona would have played for national championship but instead ohio state beat arizona state and florida beat fsu, but why didn't ohio state get national champions? That was an example of how stupid this system is...Florida has never earned a national championship...the system is flawed unless a team goes undefeated.
