I have read over the last few days and weeks continued discussions regarding cappers, pay and/or non-pay. As someone who kept out of the previous threads, I have read with much intrigue what has been said. One thing is certain, it will always end with people getting hurt or even upset.

At the end of the day, one thing is for sure, the sun will set, as will a capper endure losing and winning periods. That is the very nature of the game of wagering.

It is a fact that losing runs will and do out number winning runs. Most sport is two team matchups. In baseball the favourite wins 58-62% of the time. If a capper is playing dogs his win rate will be in the region of 38%. In football (ATS) the capper must win 54% on level stakes to break even, due to the "vig". Now a capper who plays 100 games in a season and wins on 56% of their plays will win overall if playing level stakes. If variable stakes are employed they may lose or win more depending if the higher stakes were on the winners. This capper may have 0 winners from his first 44 wagers over the first eight weeks, then their next 56 wagers are all winners over a five week period. Don't judge on a few weeks.

As I have said before, "IT IS NOT WHAT IS ACHIEVED OVER 1, 2, 3 MONTHS OR MORE, IT IS WHAT IS ACHIEVED OVER 1, 2, OR PERHAPS 3 YEARS".

I am a sports bettor (investor) and I do it for a living. It is bloody hard work and stressful. The winning runs are great and thats what keeps you going, the losing runs can be sole destroying. I dont sell my information, why? because it would add further stress for me, and in all honesty I could not tolerate the abuse that comes with the job. Last year I lost for 7 months out of the twelve, yet still managed to profit by 200 points. Once again this was down to money management, when to wager 3 points instead of 2 points etc.

Those of you who charge for a service, good luck to you all. There is nothing wrong in this, they are supplying a service, you either use them or you don't. I dont hear many complaints about using or not using a dry cleaning service. If you want things in life there is usually a charge attached to it. Let's be professional about the whole thing, they choose to cap and charge, some pay for that service, some dont. If they are winning, they're winning and the same goes for losing. What a certain senior member did for a college student when he lost his money (grant) was very commendable. Why did he do this? perhaps he really does care and of course he wants all his plays to win. So when they dont, how do you think he feels? I am not mentioning names because this person feels they are always dragged into these posts.

There are plenty of cappers on this site, those that supply a pay for service and others who don't. What I would like to see from all those who cap games on this site, which would stop all the bickering would be totals shown alongwith profit/loss to date. Then everyone can see at first hand and there's no need for adverse threads. I give my profit/loss on my postings, the same as Jack does on his plays, thats the way it should be.

I am really sure that if the posts and e-mails continue like the ones we have had, sledging cappers when they lose, then this site will lose those members and that will be for the worst. This site has come to be what it has by all getting along. I am sure it was designed to bring the best cappers together so we all benefit. If a capper has a good run, by all means post a positive response, congratulate him or her, it doesn't take much to say thank you. If a capper is having a poor time, still post threads but don't destroy or burn the capper, they feel bad enough allready, losing their own money and advising others who if played have lost aswell. I know, I feel pissed off when I've given out a losing selection.

SO NEXT TIME SPARE A THOUGHT FOR THE CAPPER BEFORE SHARPENING YOUR KNIVES.

Amen BB. I've been lurking in this forum for a few years using the info available. I've gone up & down, but I still have doubled my $. That is why I try to compliment those I follow and if I lose I don't complain, (My God it's free anyway), but try to learn. I now use flat betting and am winning more than losing. Yes I've been called an a**kisser, etc., but Kudos to those post their picks cause I appreciate it. Someone wants to pay, that's their business. I have more than enough resources available here @ MJ's. I also know that if I choose to pay, I know who to contact.:D

There is only one differance. If you pay. You have to win at higher rate. After you made up that differance you can start to count your winnings. Pay service does not mean its a better service. Like mutual funds. No load funds are as good as load funds.

Of course you must figure in the cost of the service when tallying your accounts. However, in the long run, this amounts to very little in percentage to how much a person plays in a year. Certainly it is cheaper to pay for service on a monthly or yearly basis than by the day or week. However, I don't believe I am anything other than a recreational bettor and probably play less than the average guy that visits this site. I play an average of about $2,000 total per week. Some weeks are more and others or less, but it amount to about $100.000 per year. If I am paying a service $1,000 per year, it represents a cost of only 1%. If I pay $2,000 it would be 2% of my total betting action. If the service can win at a rate of even 5% more than I do on my own, it is certainly going to be worth it. The trick is obviously to find a service that picks winners at a rate higher than you do on your own. One other big plus for a good service is that is forces you to do a better job of managing your money through rated plays. Keeping your betting to, for example, a 3,4,5, and occasionally 10 unit system avoids the go for broke or chasing that inevitably causes the average bettor to lose in the long run. Just my opinion - but has worked for me.

British Bulldog, I enjoyed your post and agree with it.

I would like to see the posters on this site include their record for the year and the plus\minus units. That way, readers have a better feel for if the capper is hot or cold, etc.

I also appreciate Raymond' and fletcher's posts and read them when I see them. However, I don't place any credence on them any more since they went pay. The reason is that we don't know if the plays they post are their best plays or if they are comp plays that they don't like as much as their pay-for plays. I know I wouldn't like it if the service I was paying for was posting the plays free!

Good luck to all. I appreciate all posts, just have to know how to use the information.
