Penguin, all joking aside, your dog should never force his way between you and your son, he is claiming that territory, its classic behavior that he is dominant. Your dog should never bark at you either. I owned and trained many pitBulls, and boxers before my accident, my last Boxer just passed away. Your dog has claimed your children as his pack, that could be a dangerous situation, if one of your kids has a friend over, and they even get loud, or wrestle, or whatever, your dog may very well attack this other child.

Watch "the dog whisper" on national Geographic Station on television. It is about the best free dog training you can get. Also maybe pick up his book (the dog whisper) by Caesar Milan.

Shamrock, thanks for the advice. When the neighbor kids come over to play we tested it out with them as well. If I pretend to hit them he tried to protect them as well.

Kinda like he knows who needs protecting and who doesn't. Just thought it was nice he came that way out of the box.

I'm gonna get him some training, but I really don't think he would harm a fly.

pf, You really don't have to pay for training, that guy national Geographic, isabout the best trainer I have seen. you would probably enjoy his show, its pretty interesting when you get into it. If you have digital cable you should get the National Geographic Channel. Good luck, and I hope your back is doing better.

FYI dogs don't come "out of a box".

You have a recipe for disaster on your hands, hope you do something about it.
