My opinion is it goes both ways. You referred to Dogs as a decorated war hero and Duff as a proven liar. I don't know anything about Dogs' military service but I consider you one of the least partisan and honest posters here so I'll take your word that he's a decorated war hero. But that doesn't give him any more license to wage personal attacks than anyone else on this site. Duff, on the other hand, simply listed the incorrect address of a restaurant in Paris (which he later corrected) and Dogs has never let that go, and in fact, in the same thread, Dogs insulted Duff's wife.

IMO, Dogs invites many of the "childish personal attacks" you refer to. Dogs often replies to liberal posters here who take issue with something he's posted by referring to them as trolls, nobodies, government tit-sucking leeches, da base, cyber-punks, etc., etc. Dogs replies to liberals are usually laced with comments implying that if you're liberal, you don't work, own a home, pay taxes or pull your weight in society.

Yes, I think the personal attacks get childish on both sides and I'm guilty of them as well but to paint them as one-sided is a bit disingenuous, IMO.

Trench, I have respect for both the content and delivery of your posts. No doubt in my mind that you are a solid guy. Dogs gets under the skin of most liberals, but that does not warrant the bashing. Stevied doesn't disrespect dogs. Neither does chadman. This forum would be much improved if duff and trampled shared their considerable knowledge without attacking those with whom they disagree.
