Please tell me that you do not really believe this, Weasel. I had begun to believe that on occasion you might actually have a rational thought.

What the hell, I have been wrong before. :SIB

sadly there are still people out there that think our sports are not fixed or tinkerd with spread wise..they probably believe in santa clause to...just think of how many (fixers) have not been caught....when i found out he officiated the game between the raptors and sonice this year .i knew exactly witch game it was..i had a few grand riding on that sunday day game (posted the play)and remember exactly how it went down and knew something fishy was going on in that game .i knew i had the right side ,no use posting i had lost a huge wager i posted b/c it was fixed ,b/c there are some idiots out therer that would bash you for it,,say that your a sore loser or something anyhow ,im fkn pissed..can we get a class action lawsuit going against the nba for doing this ,resulting in us betting on predeterimend out comes.wtf....i knew it was going on ,but when they get caught and youve lossed money on a fixed game ,it really pisses u off...cocksukermuthafkers!!....i made a nice amount of money betting the german soccer league the year after their betting scandel a few years back..i figured there would be fix free games once the season started the year after the scandel ,and i believe i was right..faves were hitting at a crazy %..was parlying the faves and they were winning,,it was a VERy predictable season and payed out nicly..maybe we can expect the same in the nba this year and make some $$.

btw ,i wouldnt be surprised if this happend in the nfl , but theyre so powerful they maybe able to keep it in house ..the nba are the biggest cash whores out there though...i think the nfl would be more involved in storybook type seasons kind of fixed way...the players are capable to...they get screwed compared to other sports with their no guarenteed contracts

No, I wouldn't. Both of these stories are fascinating in their own right. But the fact is the NFL is much bigger than the NBA - and Michael Vick is much more popular than Tim/Tom whatever Donaghy. Outside of gambling interests, nobody cares about this point shaving scandal. Losts of people for lots of different reasons care about the Vick story. I don't see race playing a part in this at all.

Seems like no one has ever been on the "right side" of a "fixed" game around here.........simply amazing.

It's a coin flip! You were on the wrong end of it! Get over it, and move on. Next time a game is in someone's pocket, you have a 50/50 shot at being on the right side.

Hell I don't know
I have had numerous occasions where I felt like I was on the right side of a fixed game and actually felt bad because of it.. Thats no bullsh-- :nono:

Pay close attention to any NFL or NBA game when the line opens up at 1 pt and stays there. Watch the underdog cover !!!!!

:mj07:

What exactly has to happen for you to move into the world of reality? You have an NBA official who has been caught red handed rigging games and you still say there are no games that are rigged? The NBA is doing everything they can to sweep this under the rug and eventually they will win out. If i was this guy i would take that death threat very seriously. You have corrupt cops, Judges, lawyers, doctors, but in this billion dollar industry everything is gonna be on the up and up? Hell we have the two biggest thieves in the world running the country but somehow all betting games are straight with no sneaky stuff on the side?

Donaghy might implicate refs
Seattle Times news services

Ex-official Tim Donaghy pleaded guilty Wednesday.

Former official Tim Donaghy reportedly will give information that will implicate referees in some forms of gambling activity, ESPN.com reported Friday.

The Web site, citing a report on 1050 ESPN Radio in New York, said Donaghy will give federal prosecutors the information as part of his cooperation with government officials.

According to the radio report, Donaghy will give prosecutors as many as 20 names of other officials and will talk about their involvement in some type of gambling activity. The ESPN.com report said, "The specifics of the gambling allegations are reportedly believed to include betting in casinos."

The alleged gambling might not include criminal activity, but reportedly could violate league policy and lead to sanctions.

The league's collective-bargaining agreement with the officials bans gambling by referees, with the exception of going to a racetrack and wagering on horses during the NBA offseason.

ESPN.com quoted Lamell McMorris, director of the National Basketball Referees Association, as saying, "As far as we know, the misconduct was isolated to one individual, and we'll stand by that until proven otherwise."

Donaghy, 40, pleaded guilty to his role in an NBA gambling ring Wednesday and was released on $250,000 bond. He faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 9 for conspiracy to engage in wire fraud and transmitting betting information through interstate commerce.

"I was in a unique position to pick the outcome of NBA games," Donaghy told a judge earlier this week.

"I received cash payments for successful picks."

i dont trust this guy

He's so crooked and the NFL seems very crooked at times. Let's face it, throw a couple flags at the right time and you change the entire outcome of a game. It's really not difficult.

Also, if this crap is happening in the professional ranks, can you even begin to imagine what goes in the college ranks???:scared

I don't understand what the other refs gambling on other things has to do with this at all?

If the refs were not involved in fixing games, then who gives a shit if they were gambling?

If they were playing casino games, or betting on other sports, what did they do wrong?

I know that technically they violated some rules, but they didn't do anything to get them thrown in jail or anything like that.

Hell, when the whole Rick Tocchet thing came out, he told officials that Janet Gretzgy was betting large amounts of money and was calling the bets into him.

The officials didn't even concern themselves with her actions. They proved that she was betting thousands on all kinds of shit and nothing even came close to happening to her.

Obviously, it has been proven time and time again in years past, officials don't care about people betting.

Take Pete Rose. He never did any time for betting. His stay in jail was due to tax evasion.

So just because these guys are refs, now they can never have a little fun outside of work?

What did these other refs do wrong?

I don't get it. So now because they played some roulette or bet on the super bowl, now they are criminals?

The whole logic in this just makes no sense to me.

Donaghy is the only criminal here. The guy is a total head case.

I think Donaghy is just looking for anything he can to tell officials to get himself out of this.

But the bottom line is that he knows that he was the only idiot involved in this and he doesn't know what to do now.

What a clown.
