ATTENTION PLEASE! :142crying :142crying

Could all of the Steelers backers and fans please create a fund for the Sea hag bettors? We will use this fund to buy extra tissue and inspirational cards for the support and development of these lads. It looks like they have shed a tear or two in the last twenty-four hours. :142crying

I, for one, know a loss in gambling can have a chilling effect on us financially and emotionally. But it looks like we severely underestimated the effect this game would have on our beloved redheaded stepchildren. Who knew a game of this magnitude would cause a momentary lapse of sound judgment from some quality people on this site. Well ?quality? may be a stretch for some, but that?s another matter all together. Hopefully, this gesture will create a sense of peace and silence the talk of such ludicrous conspiracy talk. :violin:

We won a lot of money on the Steelers yesterday. Let's help out the less fortunate people and put an end to this mindless drivel spewed by sea hag bettors. :grouphug:

Seriously. AFter reading these posts, you would think Pittsburgh was given a phantom touchdown in overtime to win the game. I have never seen so many people convinced that first quarter and third quarter holding calls decided a game that was won by OVER TEN FREAKIN POINTS!!

:iagree:

Personally, i think if the roles were reversed, pittsburgh would no longer be a city with all the fans driving off cliffs and jumping off buildings......If steelers lose that game, the city would shut down b/c all the factory workers would be drinking themselves to death.............don't get your panties in a bunch, I know a few guys from Pittsburgh and they're good people......but there would be a 4th river flowing thru there if u know what i mean, so bite your tongue

porter sure had alot to say when the calls were against his team. would have been nice if there was no question about the ref's.

Perhaps but we will never know. We all win some and lose some. There is SUBSTANTIALLY more complaining about calls and stuff over this game than I have seen in a long time. Going back to the ND/USC game, refs made a couple discretionary calls in the FINAL SECONDS that made the lead change hands. Did I piss and moan about it? Yes I did. But I never said it was FIXED, I just said the refs may have gotten it wrong, and I moved on. There is a difference between criticism and calling a game a FIX man!! Looking back to the ND/USC game, I realize I was WRONG to bitch and cry about refs afterwards. Why? because ND had plenty of chances to secure victory before that happened; missed FG, allowing USC to convert 4th and 8. I got over it by looking objectively at what my team failed to do, not what the refs did. When I did that, I realized that ND could have done more so that the last TD the refs allowed them to score WOULDNT HAVE EVEN MATTERED!!

Man, AS IM TYPING my post, my buddy calls me up telling me how FIXED the game was! :talk:

lets get one thing straight, I never said the game was fixed, nor do I believe it was......just that the refs had a helping hand....something the NFL needs to work out

No, because you're just as "one sided" as the guys you are rippin' on.

We're not one-sided, we're just objective bystanders witnessing a witch-hunt on the NFL officials, blaming them for their losses when they have only themselves and luck to blame.

Better than 65% of the public was on the Steelers. I dont think Vegas profited too much off the Steelers covering the spread yesterday... :talk:

you guys should really save that extra cash...because, in making square plays like those, we just KNOW you're going to need it

Betting Pittsburgh at -3.5 -105 is hardly a square bet. Betting on the "wrong team favored" actually turned out to be the "square" play didnt it? Square or sharp, it was the LOSING play and thats all that matters at my book.

SEATTLE was obviously the SUCKER BET. SQUARES were licking their DICKS when they saw a #1 seed getting points to a lowly #6. Action was close to even by game time as more and more SQUARES were popping SEATTLE. THE REAL SUCKERS are those that feel they need to bet their LOAD because its the SB instead of keeping within the framework of their money management program. Bets are taken 365 days a year. The SB was no different. PITTSBURGH did get more breaks, but Seattle also had the chances. A True CHAMPION overcomes those things like PIT did in INDY. Where the worst call in NFL history was made. The bottom line is Seattle didnt SACK UP. THE TRUE TURNING POINT of the game was Hasselbachs INT down 14-10. Their clock management blew balls. Pittsburgh held Alex in check all DAY. They dropped passes. They couldnt convert 3rd downs for DICK. While pit converted over 50% of theirs. They couldn't beat a Steelers team that clearly played the C game or worse. Give it a rest or stop gamlbing if your heart cant stomach the ups and downs. Also forgot to mention the geniuses 2 minute drill execution. Excellent excellent job. Im sure that was the refs fault as well. Maybe they took off 60 secs we were unaware of ?? LOL

On the course!
I guess all you "winners" would be singing the same song if the jerseys were switched in that game, too?

Neither team played a good game. One of them hadto win.

It's pretty hard to win when every time you reach the endzone, the zebra says, "Sorry, not today." Then you guys want to say, "they need to make their own chances"? That's just dumb.

I don't care who won, but I thought I was watching the horse Rodney Dangerfield bet on in Easy Money........

the refs didnt throw an int in the red zone, the refs didnt waste 45 seconds after calling a RUN play with a minute left and no timeouts, the refs didnt get the sack on 3rd and 10 with 6 minutes left that forced the punt, the refs didnt run a SECOND terrible two minute drill, the refs didnt miss 2 field goals, etc.....

I'm not saying some of the calls werent bad, maybe they were. So they had 2 or 3 scoring opportunities INHIBITED, NOT COMPLETELY STOPPED, because of undisciplined penalties. Maybe in combination with their own offensive INEFFICIENCY it made the game look shady, but if they had made the best of their opportunities in pittsburgh territory this debate wouldnt even exist.

Pittsburgh looked just as worthless on offense, hell waaaaaaaay worse actually. The key difference is they made the big plays when it counted. Seattle's offensive futitlity is PROVED by the fact they didnt have a touchdown drive longer than 20 yards. The only time pitt's defense allowed them in the end zone was because the offense put them in an unexpected bad spot. What will it take before you people start giving pittsburgh's DEFENSE some credit?

The fact that someone called pittsburgh the square bet makes me laugh. Hmm #1 seed , better record, vs. coach that "cant win a big game". "wrong team favored" right? Every time a bet is a public favorite they are not necessarily a "square" bet. That term refers to prices and payouts as well, not just favorite/underdog status and public trends

sorry derek, but i'm calling malarkey when you say the reason to back seattle was because of their seeding, better record, blah blah.

smart money was on the hawks, and if the game had been called fairly, which it wasn't, we'd have a different result. if you don't think the sharp money was on the hawks, try to disprove it.

now, if you want to list the seattle mistakes that you claim were thier downfaill...most of these mistakes came after 3-4 blatantly bad calls by the officials. you think that doesn't play on the minds of a team? like no matter what we do, the refs are going to fark us? well yeah, that tends to put a team into a panic mode.

not saying that caused all their mistakes, but contributes to at least some. anyways, i think we should lay this topic to rest. the game is over, bets have been paid, and that should be the end of it. just for my final comment on this, i truly believe the NFL is a fraud, and there's alot more going on behind the scenes within that organization that you or i will ever know.

let's all stop beating this dead horse and move on.

I dont think you know what sharp/square means. Just because Clem D was on a bet doesnt make it sharp. It has to do with payouts and prices that you get your line at.

Smart money was on the hawks? :talk: :talk:

Now THAT is funny

You obviously havent moved on. You just posted in the NFL forum about "Holmgren's response". Dont tell me to move on when you obviously are still having a hard time.

I'm not a fan or homer like you obviously are. I can objectively debate this like a rational person while you will always stick up for your team or money, whichever one was lost on sunday

If you think "sharp" money was on the seahags, get used to losing money
