You don't know what you're talking about! When the umpire motioned his hand to the side, he was signaling that the ball had hit the dirt. Yes, it was strike 3, and the batter was out, but if the ball hits the dirt on a called third strike the catcher must tag the runner or throw the ball to first. Paul is the one to blame, not anyone else.

Rander, you are right about one thing though. The umpire shouldn't have signaled out until the batter was tagged or the ball was thrown to first.

rtl-if the ball hit the ground the ump is supposed to signal to the ground NOT to the side....pointing to the ground...and in his interview on espn he claimed that the reason he signalled to the side was to signaled that the ball was not tipped!

He said in his press conference he didn't signal out when he clearly did by watching the CF camera.....

I was over it until I heard him lie. He ASKED US to watch the replay so I did. AND, I saw him signal the batter out.

WE were not behind HP, we don't know if he SAID "YOU"RE OUT" or not so we can't blame PAUL until we do know if we ever will.

WE can BLAME EDDINGS for lying though....

Shitty end no matter what....
