GROWING UP AN ACC FAN ALL MY LIFE, I HAVE WATCHED A LOT OF DUKE GAMES...IT TOOK ME A FEW YRS IN THE 90'S TO LEARN AND GET THE COURAGE TO BET AGAINST DUKE BC I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I GOT BIT LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE DID TODAY.

THEY ARE DEFINITELY THE BEST TEAM MOST OF THE TIME THEY HIT THE COURT AND THEY USUALLY COME OUT LIKE GANG BUSTERS BUT SOME HOW SOME WAY THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO LET LESSER TALENTED TEAMS COME IN THRU THE BACK DOOR.

MY FORMULA FOR BETTING DUKE GAMES

IF I THINK OR LIKE THE TEAM GETTING POINTS AND THINK THEY HAVE A GOOD CHANCE AT COVERING I TAKE DUKE.

IF I THINK DUKE IS GOING TO COVER EASY I TAKE THE OTHER TEAM.

AND MOST DEFINITELY IF DUKE IS GETTING POINTS I TAKE THE FAVORITE...PROVEN LAST WEEK OSU

I USUALLY TAKE THE TARHEELS BC I GREW UP A TARHEELS FAN AND JUST SOMETHING I FEEL COMPELLED TO DO.

I DEFINITELY GOT LUCKY TODAY BY A LAST SECOND SHOT SO IM NOT SAYING I HAD IT FIGURED OUT FROM THE BEGINNING....IM JUST SAYING I HAVE SEEN IT HAPPEN TIME AND TIME AGAIN AND DUKE PUT ME IN THE POSITION TO COVER BY A LAST SECOND SHOT AFTER TOTALLY DOMINATING THE WHOLE GAME......TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS, I HAVE BEEN ON THE OTHER END AND HAD TO LEARN THIS LESSON THE HARD WAY.

I am so biased against Duke and hate them but I've watched them for years and years.....

They get a lot of little calls and no-calls in the game. First possession today, ball goes out of bounds and honestly, who knows who it went out on. All the players start to run down court (as if both teams knew it was out on Duke)....refs delay and sure enough....."Duke Ball".

Later a charge called....every other team in America would be at the line, but the guy slides in on a break and falls down.....charge....Duke Ball.

Didn't see a lot today but didn't watch the whole game either. What I was going to say is that these calls seem to go Duke's way early. They build a lead and then some calls go against them. Its almost like it needs to "average out" in the box score, but the game is already in hand.

Then at the end, they usually go into a "stall" and run clock, then end up on the line and secure the win. But the spread is usually in doubt.

Its the same script almost every game. As a fan who hates them, it sucks. As a bettor, I usually stay away b/c a lot of games turn into a crap shoot.

LIKE READING THE SAME BOOK OVER AND OVER...I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON HOW THEY GET CALLS....I HATE THEM BUT RESPECT THEM AND ENJOY WATCHING THEM PLAY FROM A PURE BASKETBALL STAND POINT...THEY ARE WELL COACHED.

That's what is so irritating about them. Coach K knows the game and does more than just recruit the best athlete, etc. That said, these lesser athletes aren't nearly as dominating over the years without all these calls. Its subtle, but a lot of times completely changes games. Extra possessions, fouls, free throws...it all adds up and then makes you play differently against them when your behind.

Also, I would love Roy to understand the game like K does. Roy has no idea how to slow a game down. I love Roy and can't complain, but I really miss having Dean Smith there. I can't wait til Coach K dies....I mean....yeah, dies

Yeah...like I say, love Roy and can't complain. If he had gone to an average program when he left UNC as an assistant, I don't think he would have ever made it. But getting talent to Kansas and UNC is pretty easy.

He's still done a great job at both but send him over to Raleigh and he'd get his ass beat for a few years and then fired.

Still more than happy to have him. With his name and UNC's program, he can easily get all the talent we need.

I TAKE IT YOU ARE IN RALEIGH OR NC STATE MAN OR BOTH....ALWAYS SAID THAT NC STATE SHOULD BE IN THE TOP 10 IN ALL SPORTS WITH THE LOCATION, $$$, AND FACILITIES....I RUN A SALES TEAM AND I AM IN RALEIGH A LOT.

I am close to Raleigh.....I am and have always been a diehard UNC fan. Like I say, I love Roy and so glad he came to UNC. I know he wanted to stay in Kansas.

He's done an outstanding job, but he basically relies on unbelievable talent.

So many times, he refuses to call a timeout. How does Georgetown come back from 10 down? How does Kansas go on a 25-2 run or whatever it was without a timeout being called.

He doesn't understand momentum and he doesn't understand protecting a lead. His answer to the fast break not working is basically "go faster". I'd love to see these teams capable of half-court offense. Teams like Duke basically just get back on defense every single possession and make it a half court game.

But even with all that said, I'll take 2 national titles and winning every year, etc.

And I have no idea why State can't win. I know the Valvano thing set them back but that was 22 years ago. I know competing with Duke and UNC is tough too but their program is awful and then they basically run Sendek out of town.

And in football, yeah I don't get it. Those facilities are incredible, add-ons to the stadium.....I think the AD Lee Fowler had a lot to do with it....
