StL -111 4*
StL/Avs OVER 5.5 1*
I like this play for several reasons. While the Blues had a very short turnaround and ugly loss against the Sharks last game the Avs are not the Sharks. The Avs are rested but are coming off a 6-5 defenseless game against Nashville. Prior to that they lost 4 straight at home and should not have won the Preds game. With their captain gone and their goaltending giving up four goals a game lately they are no match for a tired but motivated road raging team like StL.
StL's Jake Allen is a very fundamentally sound goaltender. While he is also a young goalie, it takes at least 20 games in the pipes for the league's best to locate and identify a goalies soft spot. Some go a bit faster obviously, but with an Avs team that will look to play wide open hockey, the Blues have completely stifled the Avs speed in both meetings and will do so again. The Blues are also filling up the net on the road this year and are 6-2 against the number on the road this season.
The last matchup of these two saw the Blues fire 42 (not positive if it is 42 or 43) shots at the net while that Avs only managed 19 or 17 I forget but I know it's one of the two.
It is my belief that the Blues will beat the Avs rather handily tonight and I am leaning towards the over as it see this as a 5-2 score for the Blues.
Hope this helps,
