this is an excellent topic for discussion....

a) teams who were dd dogs & gained more rushing yards than their opponent were 5-0 last week & 22-4 for the season ats.

b) teams who rushed for double the amount of ground yards than their opponent were 16-7 ats & 111-45 ats for the season.

off the top of my head these are the possibilities..

a) ucf,vandy,mich.st.,az.st,tulane, fla. int'l.

b) clemson, a.f.,w.virginia, wash., stanford,louisville,colorado,texas,lsu, & boise

agree...disagree ?

do have others ?

think the trend he was/is looking for was a pre-game stat of teams that fit the profile below:

dd dogs
rush for more yards than their opponent (per game or per carry?)
stop the run better than their opponent (per game or per carry?)

i dont have the current stats or teams that fit the bill but it seems to be failry good predictor of dogs that have a chance to cover.

I appreciate the post AR, how long did it take you to pull those stats? Do you have a database that has quick reference stuff like that.

i stumbled upon statfox a while back and they have some really good match-up info. click on CFB matchups and you can compare stats really quickly without having to do a lot of clicking. it's the best free resource i've found so far.

yeah it is. only thing, the more info i seem to get, the harder it seems to pick the winners :)

i like going on instinct and picking games of teams i've seen play. but it's tough, cause i love the ACTION!! :D

I've been out of this stuff for a couple of years, but didn't there use to be an angle about the unranked fav vs the ranked underdog? And, wouldn't Navy apply to that rulke this week?

This might help???

It's a good parimeter for measuring opponents strengths, I consider it in all my game handicapping, but you have to distinguish if the particular team has any ability to pass or stop the others passing attack. Also must consider how many attempts the team has compiled to get all that rushing yardage. (EX. Navy)

I'm currently looking at Navy/ Rutgers game.Navy has 2103 in 363 attempts (avg.5.8 per carry).Rut. 1041 @ 4.8 per carry. On the defensive side Navy gives up 4.1 per carry, Rutgers 2.6 per carry. formulate the #'s and Rut. comes out with a .50 or 1/2 yard advantage per rushing play.

The system when used with other elements"will "give you a good percentage of winners, but do your homework.

GL.
