One out..double-play gets them out of the inning...Gonzalez's bloop would have been an easy out if Jeter is in normal position..any thoughts?

just saw the replay, and your absolutely right. jeter and rest of infield playing in, ?????????

if jeter is in dp position, its 2 outs, and no runners advance.

all hindsight now, what a series though, hats off to all zona backers.

anyone remember at the beginning of the series someone posted that all home teams would win. man that would have been some serious prop $$$. 7 for 7.

peace

there is no-way you can take that chance with the game winning run at 3rd you cannot assume a double play when you have men on 1st and 3rd or bases loaded with winning run at 3rd you could take a chance with middle half way and corners in then on a hard hit ball right at middle they could try for 2 or still be able to go home if hit left or right of middle because they are still in closer then double play depth, the way it was played was right a hard hit ball right at you when you are in is a great chance home to first dp with a slower runner at the plate.

Fletcher is correct, Gonzalez would have been extremely difficult to double up coming out out that left handed box, especially with Jeter hobbled at short. I believe the correct play was to play infield in. But once again that is what makes baseball the game of games!! Everything can be second guessed & debated . What a game, what a series, what a season!! Sorry it's over Tel next year!

Game 5, tie game, 11th inning..D-Backs have the bases loaded, 1 out. Torre has the infield play back...Sanders hits a liner near second-base, Soriano with a diving grab that he would never had a chance to make if playing in...saves two runs and probably the game for NY.

Totally agree people...ya dont go into DP mode here.....the winning run is on 3rd and ya cut his ass down...if ur in DP mode too many things can go wrong and bet ur ass the runner on 1st is coming down the line to take ur ass completely out...good call by the Yanks by playing them in...it just didnt workout

Totally agree with this. . . Gonzo was jammed up and was fortunate to get the bat on the ball enough to carry it as far as he did. . . but a defense certainly can't plan for a little "bloop" like Gonzo's. . .
