getting hit with tuition hike in order to create scholarsips for those who are "in need" and minorities.......

meanwhile Dr. Freeze will push his debt back a couple thousand to approx 112 Grand rather than 110 grand because he is white and not in need so I can fund this great cause.....

UNREAL

AND.....Texas A&M gets hit with 5% tuition hike while university creates minority services with supervisor getting 150 Grand/year

UNREAL

blantant racist policies promoted by these extremist liberals who have infiltrated higher education!!!!

next thing we know they will again create separate toilets and drinking fountains for whites and blacks....

i think you should quit school, declare bankruptcy, and become a ditch digger.;)

ps. my wife is in her last year of pharm school. i get to borrow $$ to pay her tuition while she works 40 hrs a week for free. in the meantime her f'n rotations are very spread out logistically so my gas bill is a bitch. furthermore, one of her minority classmates who married to a dr. of pharm is going to school for free and receiving a stipend !! what a country:)

when my wife started school i was making about 40 grand a year, and she was making around 20. we made too much money for her to get scholarship:nono:

what do you think happened to our income the day she started school ?:rolleyes

that is how it is and it will never change.:(

It's a shame the middle class guy doesn't stand a chance! Not insinuating that the Dr. is a middle class guy just making a point.

...join the club. You ain't the only one that gets hit with a tuition hike every year.... I ain't worried about myself, as I am almost finished, but my unborn children...I don't know that I will be able to afford the increases.... It's like 10X's the inflation rate....

...no offense, doc, but just don't bitch about it. Just go out there and make your living...send your kids to college...and just be glad that you ain't digging a ditch, bitch. :D

...it can't be harder for you than it is for those that aren't so fortunate. :)

...really, I feel your pain.... I just don't bitch about it. ;)

...just keep those winners coming in NCAA foots and we'll all be better off.... :D ;) :)

how many doctors make 250 grand a year ? do you know how much malpractice insurance costs ? maybe the dr is bitchin, wgaf ? school is expensive. i worked full time while i was in school and it took me 6 yrs to get a 4 yr degree (some may argue an intelligence issue:shrug: )

Elvis your right on target. Most 4 year degrees are taking folks 5 years to finish. Most to do haveing to work. Not everyone gets born with gold spoons shoved up there ass. And then complain about there taxes.

I don't even balk at the thought of $112,000 in debt, simply because:

A) If it wasn't worth it..you wouldn't rack it up!

B) Your long term earning potential is far greater than those without and MD behind their name. So consider it an investment that over the course of your lifetime will earn you millions! Sound investment if you ask me...

Also, it does suck that other's get the breaks, etc., but that's life...it wasn't fair before you, and it won't be fair after you.

Consider yourself lucky, you have the drive, aptititude and willingness to make your Education happen...millions don't! And I am quite sure you wouldn't trade places with any of them...

djv, with all due respect because you are older and more experienced than myself : higher ed is a committment & investment. complaining about taxes after sacrificing to get a great paying job, is in my opinion, not an unfair objection.
-compiling debt
-sacrificing free time
-stressed out
-social life

small issues to secure financial stability, but nothing is guaranteed.

why should you be taxed at a higher rate because you make a higher rate of income ?
all i am aware of is that my wife and myself have built up a great amount of debt from our ed, and we don't much $$ in savings at this point because of school/schedules. when she finally gets out of school and works full time, the last thing i want to see is the feds taking 35% of our income before we ever make one payment on all of her student loans !!

Don't worry Dr., I know your plight. I too will be in about 125,000 dollars in debt after dental school, and they keep raising tuition every year. All the while every single scholarship dollar goes towards a minority. Especially since UNC is a State School. THe man in charge of picking the scholarship winners is a blatant racist black man so every scholarship is given to his kind. It's funny that black people and minorities in general want to be "treated equally", but they want to be treated equally while at the same time recieve every advantage possible. I'm not sure when as a group they will realize that you cannot have both; if you want to be viewed as equal then you can't expect special treatment all the time. I think when I graduate a group of us are going to fund "The Great White Hope" scholarship for middle class white males.

And to those of you that reply with "get over it, you'll make a ton of money", I'm not sure you understand the risk involved in assuming that kind of debt. While I have been in school for 4 years, my peers have been working for all of this time. Say they make on average 40,000, that's another 160 grand that I don't get. So basically school is putting me back tuition AND lost wages, or around 300,000. I'm not complaining, I just want you to appreciate the risk involved. Yes, when i am a dentist I will be able to pay it off, and it is an investment into my future. But God-forbid something happens to me and I can't work, I'm screwed. I think Dr was complaining more about the fact that his tuition increased for minorities, not the actual cost.

And to whoever asked about when whites will be minorities, I believed I learned in a class that it will either be 2020 or 2050, probably the latter I can't remember.

Saint-

I think everyone understand that plight...but risk equals reward.

Period, I racked up enough collegiate debts, went to grad school yada yadda yadda, the point is it was a choice, the same choice everyone makes:

Should I or shouldn't I?

It's the complaining about it that's bothersome? What can you do about it? Nothing...great then adapt and get on with it is pretty much the answer.

It's funny threads are not composed up of positive things, look at the general discussion area.... a large amount of posts are complaints...Life is not that bad!

Let's focus on positive things for a week, and see what happens!
