OK St had the ball a lot because they blew ass on defense and let up a million points. Every game was a shootout.

OKST only gave up 21.7 last year and Texas and Houston were two of the top offensive teams in the country and accounted for 45 and 41 against them bringing that 21.7 number up.
Against the SEC teams they held Ga to 10 points and Ole Miss had 7 points starting the 4th and finished with 21 with the last 7 coming on a defensive td.

OKST was not great but they were more nowhere near terrible.

Dez Bryant played like 3 games last year.

in 2008 when he played they let up 28 points per game.

Yeah OKST defense was really soft in '08 but they were not exactly that pass happy.
Kendall Hunter had 242 carries for 1559 and 23 td's.

You mentioned he had 200 yards vs Houston but didnt mention that Hunter had 22 carries for 220 yards rushing.
They were a balanced offense. They scored 41 points on OU and only threw the ball 26 times and 26 times vs Texas in a 28-24 loss.

edit..I guess I did call them pass happy. either way, they were in an offense that was high tempo and geared to score a lot of points. every game was a shootout. those stats dont mean much. Texas Tech and Crabtree had ridiculous stats too and I wouldnt call him a once in a decade player

Look at the Baylor game from 2008 if you need to know how much Bryant meant to OKST and how good he was:

Robinson was 13 for 20 for 238 yards and 2 tds.
Bryant had 11 catches for 212 yards and 2 td's. :142smilie

Can you say crutch?

The only thing they were pass happy about was getting it to Bryant because he was so good.

Colt Brennan threw for a billion yards at Hawaii. For every example you can make of a player having good stats, theres an example of players putting up ridiculous #s who just suck. Chase Daniel is another one.

I agree with all that and yes he has a chance to something special but could easily flame out.

Once in a decade might be pushing it but I would take him any day over Demaryius Thomas.

Denver is clearly looking at character more than talent.
Bryant questionable so they go another way.
Tebow is a choir boy so they take him over better talent.

Im very happy with the Thomas pick as I think hes easily better than Dez Bryant. Just cant show much of your WR skill in a triple option offense.

The Tebow pick however, makes me sick.

Dez Bryant is a top 5 talent in this draft, if you don't include his attitude. Thomas is a not a top 5 talent, but because he has a better attitude than Bryant, he was the safer pick. But Bryant is the better player based on raw talent.

Yea, vrs Baylor.....Missouri, Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado all held him to under 100 yards

and the best part about all this, is that mcdaniels has traded cutler, marshall and sheffler away and replaced them with orton, quinn, tebow and thomas....:scared

with all the trades they made I think it washes out to them giving up a 2nd and 4th rounder to get back into the 1st and get Tebow. not bad value wise if thats who they were targeting and it works out, but wtf. why even trade for Quinn?

Scheffler wasnt anything special. He sucked at blocking and was only good with Cutler. Losing Marshall sucks but got good value considering his next screw up costs him 8 games....and I cant see him not having that next screw up now that hes back in his home state

I think teams don't want problem players & will practically give them away.

after dealing with Brandon Marshall, Thomas makes sense imo and Tebow is a safe pick, character does not win football games but playing as a team does, I like both picks, both are coachable and will not be off the field problems like B Marshall, I like McDaniels more and more each time I see what he is doing building a team

theres a difference between problem players and a coach that creates the turmoil....

havent heard a peep from cutler since the trade and i bet you wont hear a peep from marshall either this year....

mcdaniels better be onto something, or his head coaching tenure will be a short one

I am not justifying the trades that Denver made, but imo Cutler is a head case & is probably hard to coach. Just look at how he played last year in Chicago. Until he proves otherwise he is another Jeff George, a qb with immense talent but will not listen to coaching.

And Marshall is another immature talented player who Denver felt was not worth the investment of $25 million. It remains to be seen whether we will hear from him. But I would rather take a chance with Marshall than with Cutler.

exactly

Tebow will be starter 3rd year, I bet he even comes in on goal line situations this year, I agree with Gruden, he is a football player that will be a leader and is coachable
