good stuff ar.
thanks for the link.

that being said, there is ZERO chance that gallery would get past the browns.

winslow is gonna be a stud but browns want gallery in a big big way.

I would definitely take Ben Troupe over Winslow as the first TE in the draft.

Troupe is not only better, he is also going to be better in the lockerroom for his team. I think Winslow is going to be a player that never quite lives up to the hype and is angry for it his whole career.

i saw other mock drafts that had gallery going to the giants. but i think that the giants have to take fitzgerald if he is available at #4, he is too good to pass up. but on the other hand i wouldn't be surprised if the giants trade down & then take gallery or the guy from arkansas.

I think that the Giants will grab up Gallery - O-Line is there most pressing need and from what I read he's the type of player they can plug into that line and rely on for the next ten years. With Toomer and Hilliard there isn't a glaring need to upgrade, but if Fitz was there I would see the thought process if they went for him.

With that being said, I would be suprised if Fitz is not the first WR taken; by the Raiders. While Gannon isn't getting any younger, having Fitzgerald and Porter to build an offense around isn't too shabby.

blackman,

i agree with you that al davis may take fitz. he seems to like that type of player at receiver.

if that's the case, i think ben will go to the cards.

but then, do the giants take roy williams ?

i think then the giants trade down. i'm sure that your eagles would love to have williams.

Well Williams would solve a lot of problems in Philly - but we will not be so lucky.

My guess is they sign Darrell Jackson adding another WR with bad hands to the roster.

Part of me would like to see them put an effort forth for TerrellOwens, but if Andy Reid and Jeff Lurie think Duce Staley is too outspoken and demanding, they'll never even entertain the idea of T.O.

Wouldn't be shocked if the G-Men trade down a bit, but I do not think they will go too far and risk losing Gallery. Browns would love to grab him, maybe even Atlanta? I know that they have issues in the secondary, but it takes a special safety to go in the top 8, and Sean Taylor is no Roy Williams (Cowboys/Sooner versioni) in my opinion.

blackman/ar182:

its been said around here that the giants are going to play a key role in who the browns select at #7 or #8 (depending on their coin flip with atlanta). basically the browns really fear the giants are going to snag gallery. if the giants were to trade down (with the intent of getting gallery a little lower), theres no way in the world theyll trade down past the browns, because butch davis wouldnt even let the draft clock tick down more than 0:30 seconds before phoning in his pick of gallery.

hoops:

seems we never agree (nothin wrong with that) but you guys are nuts if you think kellen winslow isnt going to be a star. theres no doubt he was way out of line and acted like an azzhole the entire season last year at miami -- but his talent is undeniable. i dont think theres any question he can be as good as tony gonzalez. and this is coming from a florida gator fan. i initially hated the kid, but after watching him over the course of the last 2 years, talent is talent.....and that kid has a ton of it. spoiled azzhole? yes. potential nfl all-pro and as good as gonzalez? very likely.

gman- Never said that Winslow won't be a good player. I'm sure he will be a very good pro. I only said that IMO Troupe is and will be the better tight-end.

stuman,

didn't the qb(forgot his name) win the heisman ? if he did, he was granted an extra year to play college.

what team did troupe play for ?

i've heard that the giants like andrews, from arkansas, as much as gallery.

i think if clev. has the opportunity to take a runner as good as kevin jones they should do it. i think jones is going to be a big time player.

i heard that owens is going to seattle. holmgren will have a tight control on owens' prima dona attitude.

"the bunker"
cleveland

cleveland

looks pretty solid to me skill position wise....and lee suggs looked great late in the season.....

if william green doesn`t straighten his act out, suggs should be the man......

cleveland could use o line or tight end help.....

there are any number of mediocre teams that could get very good in a hurry...

the jags could be a very good club next year...

parity is as true in the nfl as any team sport there is....

There is ZERO chance Stephen Jackson is available to the Past at 21 as things now stand, in terms of if he stays healthy etc. That kid is a stud. I will print this post out and eat the paper if the Pats take him at 21.

hoops:

thats cool. i see where youre coming from.

also:

weasel is right. cleveland is set at running back. thats the one area where they DONT need to upgrade. if green comes back sans his off the field problems, theyll have a hell of a backfield. even if he doesnt, browns were wise to grab suggs in the 4th round last year. i think people are forgetting that the only reason suggs lasted until the 4th round was because he had that injury. if he didnt, he would have been a top 20 pick. that game against cincy (when the bengals had everything on the line and a trip to the playoffs at stake), suggs dominated.

cleveland is such a weird team. theyre one or two good draft picks/additions away from being a serious threat in the afc. but theyre also one bad draft away from being completely mediocre. thats what parity is all about i guess.

i do know that they are very very very high on gallery. but it doesnt seem like theyre that high on andrews as a consolation lineman (if gallery is off the board). if gallery is gone, i think browns will look at winslow (or possibly even a defensive back, especially taylor if he slides)

gman,

i thought cleve. had a pretty good passing defense. i think they need run stoppers on the d-line. i may be wrong (which is a good possibility-lol) but i think jones will be a special player. if i was clev. mg't. i would deal green asap t & get rid of the problem players.

ar182, youre correct about clevelands defense. theyre fairly sound in the passing game (defending it) but theyre weak against the run.

the funny thing about it? cleveland invested a TON of money in the defensive line. and it hasnt paid off.

thats whats killing the browns.

they have a #1 overall pick on the defensive line (courtney brown)

they have a #3 overall pick on defensive line (gerard warren)

and yet the browns couldnt stop the run. go figure. brown started to make big strides, but hes injury prone. and warren -- although i like him -- is a bust. their defensive line (including orpheus roye, another guy getting big money) is the highest paid part of the team......yet the least productive.

i absolutely agree with you about kevin jones. its just that running back is the one area cleveland is set.

if green comes back strong, hes an incredibly talented runner. obviously theres a lot of "talented headcases" in the nfl. but i think its too early for the browns to give up on a guy that basically carried them to the playoffs on his back 2 yrs ago in his rookie season. time will tell though if he can get his personal life in order.

Kellen Winslow is, no doubt, a super talent. I would like to stake a claim as the first person to say he will never be a superstar unless the right coach or role model teammate gets hold of him early and shakes that chip off of his shoulder. Put him on the Browns, and he will never be more than mediocre because he will always be crying about losing.
