We're hosting an old school "cocktail party" this weekend. A bunch of couples are getting together, going to dinner at a supper club then coming over here for drinks. I'm sick of the same old stuff. Do you guys have any favorite drink ideas that we could serve? Maybe some warm cider drinks or apple pie drinks. I have no idea. So far we're thinking about home made (from scratch) old fashions. (That might just be a WI thing). I'll also have some solid beer choices on ice.

I appreciate any recipes that you might have.

Make something the women will enjoy too. Margaritas made with fresh squeezed limes. :0008

Not saying women don't go for the Old Fashions but a higher percentage of people would take a margarita if given the choice between the two.

I think

Winner!

Just take the company chopper and go run the show for PA. Put all the supplies on IE's credit card. :0008

The retro-drink culture is officially in vogue, from the TV show Mad Men to the speakeasy-style cocktail bar. Many of today's popular cocktails originated 100, 200, even 300 years ago, but each of the following drinks has enjoyed a resurgence in our lifetimes. Read all about the fabled and oft-debated origins of your favorite retro cocktails, including the Sidecar, Pi?a Colada, and Gin Rickey.

A drink I make that has had a 100% hit rate with everyone is a strawberry ginger martini.

Get a good Gin and then find ginger liqueur. The best and cheapest ginger one I've found is by Stirrings.

3 maybe 4 strawberries depending on size, muddle them up.

1/2 shot of fresh lime juice

1 shot of ginger liqueur

2 shots of Gin

Shake, strain and serve

I'll promise you everyone will ask about it and what all is in it. I don't like Ginger but it's great in this drink.

Easy and delicious regardless of penis.

Dark and Stormy

From Esquire http://www.esquire.com/drinks/dark-and-stormy-drink-recipe
Ingredients

Glass Type: Collins glass

  • 2 ounces dark rum
  • 3 ounces ginger beer
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice

Instructions

Combine the rum,* the ginger beer,** and the lime juice, which is optional, in a tall glass full of ice cubes. Stir. The key here is nailing the precise ratio between the spice of the ginger beer and the richness of the rum. Depending on brands of each used, you may want to play around with the proportions. No true Bermudian would put lime juice in his D & S, but here in the States that's how it comes (perhaps the Moscow Mule has something to do with that). Frankly, we prefer it with the lime -- but we're not Bermudian, now, are we? In fact, we've never even been to the "still-vexed Bermoothes," as Shakespeare calls 'em (sorry -- couldn't help slipping that in).
* Bermuda's own Gosling's Black Seal is of course the preferred brand, but anything dark and funky will work.
** If you can find Barritt's, it's from Bermuda. If not, anything will work as long as it's ginger beer and not ginger ale.

Moscow Mule - Fucking Fantastic

I dont use sugar syrup or all that garnish shit, but the lime.

Pretty much Vodka and Ginger beer, the mugs are cool, but any glass works.

Simple one, Vodka & 7-Up...

Another.... Summer Beer....

30 pk of Busch Light Cans
Large Bottle of Vodka
1 Can of Frozen Lemon Concentrate
1 Can of Frozen Lime Concentrate

Pour beer slowly (to avoid foam) into a a large Gatorade cooler, then add remaining ingredients and with a large wooden spoon mix....Add ice to keep it cool.. Tastes just like Lemonade! But believe me, it is a very potent drink !!!!!
