INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) ? Indiana State Police say a drunk driver slammed into a stopped semi and continued driving early Tuesday.

The incident happened around 1:45 a.m. along eastbound I-70 about one half mile east of Post Road.

A semi that had experienced a brake fire earlier was pulled off onto the shoulder of the interstate.

State Police say they got a call from a panicked semi driver who said a vehicle had slammed into his semi leaving a large debris field on the roadway.

The driver told State Police he feared the driver and the rest of the vehicle had to be logged under his semi trailer.

However, State Police received another call from a motorist who said he saw a minivan collide with the semi, shearing off most of the passenger side and rear of the van, and continue driving away from the scene.

The motorist told State Police he followed the heavily damaged vehicle another five miles to the Mt Comfort Road exit.

According to police the driver stopped at a fast food restaurant and was out walking around the vehicle, surveying the damage.

Police arrested 28 year old Joshua Yeary of Noblesville on a charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

A portion of I-70 was shut down briefly while State Police investigated and cleaned up the debris.

Police say no one was injured.
