Thomas Bjorn(100/1) e.w.
- - I checked it out, and it was as I suspected, Thomas usually does nothing after a week like last week. However, I suspect that if some of his demons are ever vanquished for a spell, the opposite will be true. I deluded myself into thinking I saw a swagger and a spark last week that had the look of something different about it.

Tom Watson(250/1) e.w.
- - "I'm very appreciative for the invitation." . . . . After winning in stellar fashion last time out, relinquishing the lead before simply taking it back, let's see how that sets . . . The win here by Mark O'Meara offers encouragement that you don't need to crush it around the desert to thrive this week (although the bombers definitely have demonstrated their liking for the place).

Nick Dougherty(100/1) e.w.
- - It don't take much if anything to separate me from my cash when it comes to "Pick Me Nick". Something is right in his makeup at the moment when his driving has been off, and yet he's avoided making worse than a bogie for over 144 holes. His own belief that he does well against the best fields is definitely a positive, while his very serious Ryder Cup ambitions and the need to make his way into the fields of the big events coming up could cut either way.

Round 1 play (2pts):

Paul Broadhurst to beat David Horsey +129 @ Extrabet
Enough value in these odds to tempt me into this play. Broadhurst has shot the lower 1st round score in all three starts this year and in terms of course form, he can boast three top-25 finishes in the last four years here and no missed cuts in any of his last eight visits. That contrasts sharply with Horsey who shot 77-83 last year to finish in last place.

Since I am limiting my posted plays to my 'best bet', I will now also post any additional plays that would have qualifed via my 'systems'. These will be listed in declining order of preference.

[unofficial rd1 system plays: McDowell/Molinari E -105; Singh/Molinari E +102; Hamilton/Warren +115; Orr/Luiten +117; Edfors/Aiken -125; McDowell/Wood -111; Foster/Drysdale -105; Clarke/Lowry -125; Lynn/Bland +108; Noren/Clarke -116; Otto/Cabrera-Bello +108; Waring/Goya -125; Hamilton/Zanotti -125; Fernandez-Castano/Rumford +102; Fisher R/Quiros -110; Casey/Quiros -120; Fisher R/Schwartzel -116; Levet/Lawrie Pa +108; Aguilar/Dixon -125; Kapur/Aiken +129; Edfors/Bjorn -105; Dougherty/McGowan -116; Hanson/Schwartzel +100; Kapur/Manassero -105; Dredge/Wood -105; Gonzalez/Bjorn -105]

LIA thanks for the long shot opinions. I have realized that I do not have the time or the disc ipline to be a successful bettor at all sports (mainly discipline lol) and since I know I can never give up basketball, my golf betting has become even more of a hobby than it used to be. This is why I am looking for some help to put in some fun bets. I have always enjoyed your writeups and since we are practically neighbors I am riding your coattails. I did get get Bjorn and Dougherty at 125-1 and Watson at 350-1 at 5 Dimes a couple minutes before I posted this. Just so you know how responsible you are for my financial well being I did risk one dollar on each of these!

Stanley let me also thank you for your plays as I like to follow. Just to make sure, I assume in your unofficial plays, the side you have listed with the line after it is the side that you are leaning to?

Adding . . .

Outrights:

Chris Wood(66/1) e.w.
- - IMO a very interesting assortment of names positioned on the World Golf Rankings that will be keen on moving up into the top 66 or so after Sunday in order to earn a spot in the Accenture Match Play. Of all the players on either Tour, I had no problem deciding that for my money, I had the most confidence in #70 Wood in terms of the way he's playing at the moment and his producing a finish that secures a place in Tucson.

LIA thanks for the long shot opinions . . I have always enjoyed your writeups and since we are practically neighbors I am riding your coattails. I did get get Bjorn and Dougherty at 125-1 and Watson at 350-1 at 5 Dimes . . . I did risk one dollar on each of these!
I've also got exactly $1.00 on the enhanced Win prices at 5dimes for each of my plays this week, so here's to one of them getting it done. :mj06:

Round 2 play (2pts):

Charl Schwartzel to beat Alexander Noren -120 @ Stan James
Easy to back the player just awarded the title 'European Player of the Month' for January, following his back-to-back wins. Add in another top-15 finish last week and a round today that puts him as joint leader and there is clearly a huge wave of form to back here. The same may also be said for Noren, to some extent, he has played twice this year and finished has finished the day in 4th and 3rd place respectively over the last two weeks. However, he has yet to record a round of 70 or better after the 1st round this year and has finished the 2nd round in 40th and 32nd place respectively. Noren also starts the 2nd round as co-leader, but the last month clearly points to a Schwartzel win tomorrow.

[unofficial rd2 system plays: Schwartzel tb Hansen A -138; Hansen S tb Hansen A -120; Lawrie Pe tb Fichardt -135; Casey tb Quiros -120; Molinari F tb Noren -130; Dyson tb Hansen S -110; Molinari F tb Hansen A +110; Fisher R tb Noren -110; Willett tb Warren -104; Fraser tb Fichardt -114; Wood tb Jimenez -116; Martin tb Jimenez +177; Casey tb Oosthuizen -163; Schwartzel tb Quiros +105; Martin tb Derksen +100; Wood tb Dredge -135; Gonzalez tb Canete -114; Casey tb Stenson -125; Schwartzel tb Fisher R -116; Lowry tb Aiken -124; Donaldson tb Noh -125; Hansen S tb Fisher R +100; Wood tb Dougherty -104; Lee tb Hoey -125; Hamilton tb Warren +122; Schwartzel tb Molinari F -114; Lynn tb Bland -104; Garrido tb Ramsay -125; Hedblom tb Otto +100; Levet tb Manassero -125; Micheel tb Drysdale -130; Jaidee tb Noren +107; Hansen S tb Molinari F -130]

Round 3 play (2pts):

Rory McIlroy to beat Alvaro Quiros -152 @ Unibet [available generally]
Backing the defending champion and a player inside the top-10 in the World Rankings. He is well-placed just two shots off the lead is in the 2nd place in the latest odds with Quiros at more than twice McIlroy's odds. That and the odds on this match point to McIlroy being a clear favourite in this 3rd round matchup and the stats also show that: over the last 12 months McIlroy has a 7-2-1 h2h record against his opponent in the 3rd round.

[unofficial rd3 system plays: Karlsson tb Schwartzel -105; Casey tb Schwartzel -118; Karlsson tb Quiros +100; Casey tb Quiros -116]
