Steelers running back Duce Staley needs arthroscopic surgery to repair damage in his right knee and will be out of action indefinitely, reports the Beaver County Times. He had missed the last four days of practice and underwent an MRI on Sunday that revealed the damage.
The Steelers have gotten used to drawing up game plans without Staley. He missed six games last season with hamstring problems, which opened the door for Jerome Bettis to have his best season in years. However, the Steelers don't intend on riding the Bus as heavily as they did last season. That's going to open the door for Verron Haynes and Willie Parker to see more action if Staley has to miss time in the regular season.
