I've seen them flop 4-5 times so far, and they have drawn 0 charges out of them.
Refs doing a good job on the no calls.
Vitale and Patrick go crazy everytime it happens, they are such homers, I may have to mute my tv

patrick just said, "both teams have a lot of fouls to give, duke has 3 to give, maryland 1".

dumbass, 1 isnt alot. really they have 0, because the next foul sends duke to the line for 1-1

How can Duke possibly play THAT physical on every possession and not foul? I could say so much but won't. Duke is a joke and it sucks to have to watch it year in and year out.

Hansbrough did flop today and it was just as dumb as when duke does it. He didn't used to...I've noticed it a lot more lately and it just doesn't help...

lowell, Duke is a freaking joke. That said, this is what I posted on my "end of games" thread earlier today...cut/pasted...

Trying to figure out why Hansbrough developed a vagina this season. Quit flopping and play defense.

Big men should not be falling down 20 feet from the basket after slight contact from guards. He's not playing position D, he's setting himself up and then falling back before contact trying to get a call.

You get enough calls on offense inside, quit flopping on defense. Maybe he's dating Scheyer now.

there is a difference in trying to take advantage of ncaa rules by playing defense under the basket and trying to flop 25 feet from the basket when you are 80 pounds heavier than offensive player. get a clue. i do agree with you than hanesflopper is a pussy.

Just to be clear lowell, you agree that a lot of the time Duke flops rather than actually taking the charge?

Not sure what the difference is. Light contact and act like you just got hit by a truck. Why is ok for every Duke guy to do it but not ok for one UNC guy to do it?

I think they should start calling technical fouls when it happens. Or at least call a block rather than a no-call.

I agree!!! Technicals or at least one free tech foul if REFS stop play huddle together and if 2 of the 3 agree it was acting, boom! onto the FT line and the ball after...

I just think something has to be done with a few things in the game. Its not just Duke, but its especially Duke. On one hand, its like you can't blame teams...but on the other hand, its just bad sportsmanship.

Every week you see guys like coach k do the commercials talking about sportsmanship...then you see how his team plays every game.

If there is contact...and a guy falls down b/c of it, how can it be a no-call? I've played a ton of pickup games that were really intense. Almost never did I fall down during a game.

Flopping is unsportsmanlike for so many reasons. You may get a bullshit foul called and get possession. If they call nothing, now you are making the guy go around you which is not fair. Although, I guess you are allowed to fall down...to which someone just trips over you and it is a block b/c you are out of position.

I think if it seems to be a flop, you have to call a block or perhaps even a technical foul. I also think that the refs need to at times call a charge when the player does not get knocked down. If you play position D and a guy runs into you too hard, you shouldn't have to be knocked off your feet to get the charge called.

Definately agree with your final paragraph.... Lots of charges not called because the d man hold his position but doesnt nudge when hit; refs expect you to act some to remind them, "Hey maybe that's a charge"... Of course the charge/blocking foul calls are what empowers refs to decide over/under and which side covers ALL THE TIME; i.e. my thinking on alot of games are staged at the end in a way to get a team to cover or not... (MOSTLY SEEN IMO IN THE NBA)
