if you like duke, probably ought to take them now as line will most likely go up during the day, but right now i'm inclined to wait a bit and take seton hall. pirates showed well against manhatten, but playing the jaspers at home is a far cry from a tip to cameron indoor.

the blue devils may or may not deserve their early no. 1 ranking, but i believe it will take awhile for them to start dominating decent teams. the young players are still learning the system, especially defensively, and coach k is known for playing his hand close to the vest in early games. most likely he will not start running a lot of plays sets for reddick and williams until deeper in the preseason nit, or at least until their is a serious threat.

while i don't think that seton hall will pose a serious threat to win tonight's game, coach orr does have an athletic team with decent depth, and his teams usually put forth a good effort all the way through the game.

i'll prbably split my bet between 1st half and game in case the pirates get eaten up with the foul disparity they are certain to get a dose of while playing in the whining capital of college basketball, ruled by king k and prince jj.

I've been going over each of Duke and Seton Hall's first games and my gut tells me that Seton Hall will stay inside the 21... also like the Over @ 131... I hope you're right and this number goes up in my favor, Loop!

Thanks for the write-up!

I've been considering this game as well. . . my initial thought was to take Seton Hall because the points look valuable. But I figured everyone would be thinking the same way and a consensus would be on SH. To my surprise, the consensus for now is on Duke although very small.

Something to consider:

Yeah, Seton Hall played great D on Monday but they also went to the line a lot. Will they go to the line against Duke? I assume not and Duke will likely go to the line for 10-15 extra FT attempts. Thoughts?

Both the total and the line are starting to drop at CRIS... I think I'll wait this one out and see how it fluctuates...

Nickel,
I see your point about the FT's... If the line continues down and gets at or under 20, I'll probably take Duke... As for the total I'll get on that as high as 132 or 133...

Good luck!

looks like you were right about the foul disparity. duke shot 19 free throws to seton hall's 18. coach k had his way again.

easy lowell. i clearly missed the call on this game, and coach k obviously cranked it up a notch last night for your dookies. but i would not expect to see much of a foul disparity in a 50+ point win (one in which the starters were still in with a 50 point lead and four minutes to play).

do you dispute that coach k whines, complains and curses about fouls continuosly during a seriously contested game in order to intimidate officials? i kinda thought that fact had been universally acknowledged at this point, even by duke fans.

We need to cut Coach K some slack or he might have another nervous breakdown.

Then what would we do? Not sure how I could handle an NCAA tournament game without 10+ Coach K commercials.
