1) Fair Catch in the NFL......nothing more boring then watching some dude catch the ball, and then hear the whistle blow.

Solution....do what the CFL does

2) 4 minute "blood" penalty in NHL......If you high stick somebody it is 2 minutes, if you draw blood it is 4 minutes  You can break a guys cheekbone and get 2 minutes, you scrape the guys chin and you get 4 minutes

Solution...."blood" doesn't determine an extra penalty!

3) Kicking the head in UFC........ok, you can kick a guy in the face if he's standing up, but if he has one knee on the mat you can't kick him in the face  What:scared

Solution.....doesn't matter, kick the guy in the head no matter what position he is in:SIB

4) Not really a specific rule, but the last 2 minutes of an NBA game seems to take as long as evolution. Just crazy how long it can take for a game to end :com:

Penalty shootouts to determine soccer championships. World Cup happens once every 4 years. Tournament goes a month. Final game goes 120 minutes, only to decide the champion by who can kick penalties better. They should not stop playing until someone scores, even if takes a week.

Soccer would be impossible to play without offsides unless you wanted to completely change everything such as field size and goal size.

Or you could just watch indoor soccer??

I think the dumbest rules in sports are:

1. Uncatchable ball. Was it pass interference or not? If the QB would not have thrown it in the direction of the receiver, it would have been interference. BUT if he throws it very poorly to him, then it is not. That's absolutely assanine.

2. Fighting allowed in hockey. Nuff said.

3. Baseball manager being allowed to keep their jobs after acting like a 3 year old.

Alternate possesion in College BB.

Got to go back to jumpball...if a 6-9 forward and 5-10 guard tie the ball up, why give it to the 5-10 guys team just because some silly arrow points their teams direction?

What, would it add an average of an additional 5 minutes to each game? BFD.

In the basement
American Football- offense fumbles out of the defensive endzone and it is a touchback/turnover for the defense.

Yet when you fumble out of bounds anywhere else on the field, possession is retained at the spot where the ball when out of bounds.

Hell I don't know
How about the 1/2 of the distance to the Goal line in football. Make it a saftey...... I mean if i'm a QB and my team has the ball first and 10 on my own 1 yard line..... I don't snap the ball untill the defense jumps offsides so i can have the ball at the 5 yard line.

Heck take 20 penalties if you have to cause you don't loose anything.
I'm just saying

I always thought they should move the sideline yard markers ahead the penalty yardage if you couldn't move the ball back the full yardage. Makes sence to me

I like this idea as well. Move them back to the 1, then whatever yardage is left, tack it onto the first down marker.

I like it!

Being a huge MMA fan, I think I can side for this rule.

You can knee someone in the head if they're "down", but not if both hands are on the mat.

You gotta have this rule, because you have to defend the fighter. All rules are made in spite of whether or not the fighter is in a position to defend himself if someone is trying something on them.

You can't let the sport get out of control and come off as barbarish and no rules. If so, the sport won't last very long.

I agree. I love the world cup and to see games determined like this is bush league.

Worst rule of ALL time is in college football when your knee is down you are down, even though no one fuking touched you. Seriously, what's the point of this rule

The "Celebration Rule" in College football. Nothing better than a good spike or Billy White Shoes Johnson doing his dance. This is a rule made by old men who can't relate.

Don't disagree, when there's so much on the line and it goes to penalty kicks is always disappointing. But i believe the reason they go to kicks is because of fatigue. i wouldn't know from experience, but it's probably dangerous to "run" for longer than 120 mins with only 1 rest period
