I HAVE A dvd (Sony), that although is about 1 year old, I would estimate I have watched less than 30 movies on it. Went to watch something yesterday, doesn't work. Doesn't say (can't read disk) like when disk has to be cleaned. Instead says (can't play disk.) Sounds like disk starts to spin, then stops.

Like I said previously, bought this about a year ago, because Toshiba unit I had continually had to have (laser realigned) after about 3 trips to get this done, threw it away and bought the Sony. Not that expensive, only like $150. But wtf are Electronics supposed to be disposable these days. These Foreign pieces of shit always break. There aren't even shops that fix electronics anymore.

I feel your pain. I just went through a week where I lost my dvd player, my printer and my stereo remote control. I'm getting sick of buying stuff ... maybe it's some sort of economic stimulus conspiracy between our government and manufacturers?:SIB

Anyway ... my dvd player was doing the exact same thing. I took it apart and thoroughly cleaned everything and it still didn't work so I just bought a new one. Good luck.

it`s a player,not a recorder,right?

are you trying to play a commercial dvd or something a friend or yourself recorded?....

i know on my panasonic i occasionally have formatting issues...i record all my stuff on dvd ram...

did you try unplugging it for awhile?...try other dvds?...sometimes they need to sort of reboot...

i have 2 panasonics...and the one before it i ended up giving to a cousin....never had one go out on me permanently...not saying they don`t break..but they`re durable..

g.l.,shammy ....
