JB first off don't even start with this Jungle business. It is Jordan-Hare stadium. There is nothing more i would like is to destroy these Webels. Not so fast my friend, road team is 6-1 in last 7 ATS. It seems as you may be betting with your heart not your head. Yes we have handled ole miss in the last 15 yrs or so, but this year seems to be the rebs year. I have always said if Eli can't do it, nobody can and it looks as if he may just do that. They have an improved D and their running game has actually been able to gain positive yds this year. Ole miss is last in the sec in pass D and auburn is last in the sec in passing O. What a matchup. In tubbs three losses this year the score has been 71-10. If we don't win we get blown the F out. That is a fact in his four yrs at auburn. Auburn plays terribly as a favorite and excellent as an underdog. I think we lose two of our last three games to ole miss, UGA, and bama. Our offensive play calling is awful and our special teams is the WORST i can ever remember. Ole miss has the best kicker in the SEC IMO. I have a 10* of my own.

Ole miss +7 10**

Good Luck

I agree with wareagle this is a dff Ole Miss team. If and I mean IF we can stop AU from running the ball I think the Rebs have a great shot to win this game. Because ya'll can not throw the ball. I do believe the Rebs will put up some points I just hope it is enough. I say

Ole Miss 31
AU 28

line already at -8...

in recent history (past 4 years) this matchup has been considered somewhat of a "new rivalry". all of the games have been decided by 7 points or less with 3 out of 4 going to AU. I think there is value in this point due to in the past we've seen match ups with much stronger AU teams and weaker UM teams.

AU's 73-7 win against La monroe doesn't hide their inability to get up for big games (and I might add - it showed little class).

I think AU may win here but will not cover the points. UM scores at least 21... just my opinion.

Not only that, but Ole Miss had a little bit of a let down in that 4th quarter to S.C., which might carry over into this weekend's game. Maybe they were looking ahead a little bit to this new rivalry game. Good luck guys!

KDogg, i like OM in this game but what you said is the exact thing that scares me about OM. They haven't been able to close a game out all year. Look at all the games that they nearly won and lost, Memphis, Vandy, TT, USC ect... OM D always fades in the 4th

Don't forget that 'bama game either, Wareagle. Had them put well away until the 4th, when 'bama caught fire. Had OM not been up so much, they would have lost no doubt.

OM has played 4 straight home games and this will be their 5th straight game without any rest. While OM has looked favorable as of late, I think the tired Rebs are due for a big letdown. Which one of Auburn's teams shows up this weekend? I think I'll pass with a slight lean to AU.

Quoting Auburn Head Coach Tommy Tuberville - The Ole Miss Game

November 4, 2003

Tommy Tuberville
AUBURN - "We're in the month of November and we still have a chance in the league, which is what you strive for. We wish that we had an opportunity to control our own destiny, but we know that we can't and it's going to take a little bit of help for us to get to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta. We're going to take these three games one at a time and do the best that we can. We have two of them at home and are very excited about that opportunity. These three games present some very exciting possibilities and are all high-profiled. Most of them should be on television and our players are excited about them. We had a good practice on Sunday, and we'll get back out there today to start putting the game plan in for Ole Miss. I think it's a big match-up in the conference between two teams that still have an opportunity to get to Atlanta. This game is going to be a very important game for both teams."

On Ole Miss*

"They have a very good football team that has improved over the last few weeks. They were in the same situation we were in earlier this season, losing a couple games, but they've scratched and crawled their way back. You can look at all their games and see improvement from one game to the next you can tell that they play with a lot of enthusiasm on both sides of the ball. They've played really good football over the last several weeks. They lead the league in almost every category offensively."

"They have an outstanding offense, and it's one of the best I've ever seen. We definitely have our hands full this weekend. Last year, we played well against them. We were able to make some plays and score enough points to win the game. It wasn't a great game played by either team and we were fortunate to win the game. This year, this is a different situation against a different Ole Miss team. They're on a roll and working towards getting to Atlanta. They can control their own destiny, and we'll have our hands full going up against them."

On Eli Manning*

"They don't come much better than him. I've been in this business a long time. I've watched this guy grow up in the high school ranks. I know his family and he has done an excellent job of representing the Manning family. He's become better each game he plays. He doesn't beat himself. He knows his limitations. He's made both his weaknesses and strengths stronger. He has really shown improvement each week over the past four years. His receivers have gotten better at catching his passes. He gives his team a lot of confidence in their ability to score a lot of points."

On the Ole Miss running game*

"This year, Ole Miss has another avenue in which they have been successful in their running game. They've really improved there. Their offensive line has become better at blocking, which makes their running backs stronger and harder to defend."

Thanks JB for the change. That crap really gets to me. Love your stats and notes. Starting to like the over in this game. I haven't seen a total yet, but you can bet your bottom dollar that these two will put up at least 50pts.

Auburn Prepares for Upcoming Game Against Ole Miss

AUBURN - Despite a 73-7 win against Louisiana-Monroe, Auburn offensive coordinator Hugh Nall said he was disappointed with the team's play after watching film and noting that the offense struggled with fundamentals. The Tigers practiced for just over an hour and emphasized correcting mistakes.

"I thought practice went well today," Nall said. "We spent some time on fundamentals which I was really disappointed with in yesterday's game. After watching film, I thought it was one of our worst games, especially up front as far as technique and fundamentals. If we had played somebody better, it would have been a rough day. I was really disappointed with what I saw with pad level, steps, hat placement and everything. That was our emphasis this afternoon to try to work on fundamentals."

Auburn faces Ole Miss Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Rebels are averaging 38 points and 477.1 yards per game offensively and allowing an average of 24.4 points and 398 yards to their opponents.

"I don't think you'll see a 10-7 game. We'll have to score some points and make our offense work and execute well. They have a really good defense with a lot of speed. It's going to be a good showdown," said Nall.

Auburn will return to the practice fields Tuesday. The Tigers, 6-3 and 4-1, face Ole Miss, 7-2 and 5-0, Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in a game televised by CBS.

Tigers Continue Preparations for Rebels

AUBURN - The Auburn football team worked out for two hours on Tuesday as the Tigers began preparations for this weekend's match up with Ole Miss.

The Saturday game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium and will be televised to a national audience on CBS. The Rebels are the lone undefeated team remaining in Southeastern Conference play while Auburn stands just one game back of them in the Western Division standings.

Ole Miss has one of the best offenses in the nation, led by All-America candidate Eli Manning, who is the SEC's top passer.

"(Eli) is everything people are saying about him. He is legit," said Auburn defensive coordinator Gene Chizik. "He's a great quarterback, but he also has a super surrounding cast. When you have an offensive line that has played as well as they have and you have a running game to go along with it, that creates a very, very good offense."

With such a high-profile game coming, the Tigers showed a lot of intensity and focus in the first practice of the week.

"Everybody is focused and ready to get things back on track," Chizik said. "We certainly understand what the task is ahead and we'll have our work cut out for us. But, today was a good start."

Auburn Focuses on Special Teams in Preparation For Saturday's Matchup With Ole Miss

AUBURN -- The Auburn football team continued their preparations for Saturday's game with Southeastern Conference Western Division leader Ole Miss on Wednesday afternoon under the lights at the practice facility.

The team focused on all special team situations during the two hour workout. Head coach Tommy Tuberville addressed members of the media following the practice.

"We got all of our game plan in and everyone practiced," commented Tuberville. "We worked a lot on special teams. We are trying to make sure that we have all of our bases covered. They have a great field goal kicker and a real good punter. We want to make sure that we do all of our homework on special teams. It was a good practice and we are looking forward to the game."

"Marcus McNeill will play and Doug Langenfeld is going 100 percent. It looks like we are going to be in good shape health-wise."

Saturday's game with No. 20 Ole Miss marks the fifth time this season that Auburn has played against at ranked opponent. Auburn's October schedule was not friendly, as the Tigers face three top 10 teams in four weeks, including two on the road.

The Tigers host the Rebels at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will be televised live on CBS.

FWIT this is Dr Bob's pick. I am still sticking with my original bet Om and over.

Mississippi 21 at AUBURN (-7.5) 34
The outcome of this game depends on whether Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville is smart enough to open up his offensive game plan in order to take advantage of Mississippi?s poor secondary. Auburn runs the ball 62% of the time and the Tigers have averaged 4.7 yards per rushing play against a schedule of teams that combines to allow 4.4 yprp on defense. However, Auburn has not been able to run the ball against teams with a good run defense, averaging just 3.3 yprp against USC, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, and LSU, who combine to allow an average of 3.8 yprp on defense. Mississippi has yielded just 3.6 yprp this season (against teams that average 4.5 yprp on offense) so they are more than capable of shutting down an overrated Auburn rush attack that?s gotten 42% of their season?s rushing yards in two games against bad defensive teams Mississippi State and Louisiana-Monroe. Auburn quarterback Jason Campbell has averaged a sub-par 5.7 yppp this season (against teams that allow 6.0 yppp on defense) but Campbell has played better in his last 6 games and has been very good against teams with a below average pass defense, averaging 9.1 yppp in games against Vanderbilt, Miss State, and Monroe (who combine to allow 7.6 yppp on defense for the season). Mississippi has surrendered 7.5 yppp this season to teams that combine to average 6.4 yppp on offense, so I think Campbell can move the chains with his arm instead of handing off to running backs that are not likely to average more than 4 yards per rushing play. If Auburn sticks to their normal percentage of runs they?re likely to score about 27 points, but they would probably top that number if they decide to throw the ball more than they run it in this game. Mississippi?s offense is good (6.3 yards per play against teams that allow 5.5 yppl on defense), but the Rebels will be held in check by an Auburn defense that is just as good (4.7 yppp allowed to teams that average 5.5 yppl on offense). My math model favors Auburn by only 4 ? points if they stick to their usual offensive game plan, but the Tigers should pull away if they take full advantage of Mississippi?s porous pass defense and they qualify in a very solid 100-39-3 ATS home momentum situation.
