My opinion on Steam varies from most. I do think the move you are talking about was probably a steam move, but that doesn't mean it's a winning move. Steam players are still gamblers and they are probably looking at an All Star vs. a former All Star with Hirschbeck behind the plate having to score 9 runs to lose (if they get under 8). That may be syndicate money or "smart" money or whatever you want to call it, but I still think the under is a very public-type play. Just my opinion, of course.
If you want to know what I think about steam, my view is that if you use steam, then use steam only and don't worry about handicapping. If you try to use standard handicapping factors and sift through syndicate plays as well you may end up doing yourself more harm than good.
