I've got some homework to do on this game yet before I lay it down, but I do have an early lean towards the 49ers. Things could change, but this is where I am at so far......
If you look at their losses....there is only one game all year that they haven't been in and that was a 45-10 shellacking at the hands of Atlanta. That game they still ran for 100 yds, but only had 179 yds passing with the mighty Shawn Hill at QB. Atlanta has only had that pass defense against Washington and Miami....neither of which I would call proficient in the passing game.....everyone else gets close to 300 or better. With Alex Smith back at QB, the 49ers are up almost 100 ypg. But look at the other losses.....@Minnesota lost by 3. @Houston lost by 3. @Indianapolis lost by 4. Then the Tennessee debacle in which they lost by 7 (with 4 turnovers).
SF needs to win this game to stay in the playoff hunt. A loss tonight and it's all over.
Also take in to acct that Singletary has let his players know all week long that he won't lose to his former team. His guys will play hard for him tonight.
Like I said, I'm not done yet. I have some other factors to consider. But right now my lean is on SF 49ers.
