I can tell you right now that you have two losers posted, WVU will beat Cincinnati by at least 14 and Ohio U absolutely sucks.

Cal poly San Luis Opisbo, the Mustangs. They are Division 1-AA (IMHO a lesser UCSB). They have a decent baseball and basketball team, but football blows. Look what Arizona did to UTEP now look what LSU did to Arizona. That shows you how piss poor UTEP is. Add to the fact that SDSU played great vs OSU the other day. -18.5 is a lot of wood to lay on the rod, but the game could eaily get out of hand fast. SDSU as a small play looks good, personally see better games on tHE board but GL :toast:

p.s. no offence to Cal Poly SLO alum's

HOW the FAWK did you find that so quickly:eek: Cal Ploy SLO is a great school, but it seems like many of its students are there cause they got rejected at UCSB. Then again UCSB has been football-less for like 25 years, but they do have an awesome ultimate frisbee team:cool:

You guys forget that Cal Poly SLO is a rising dynasty, last year the Tangs nearly pulled the outright upset of the Kent Golden Flashes and they beat their 2nd Division 1a program in UTEP in the last 6 years. UTEP is now a scratch for me, wasn't it just a couple of years ago that the Miners were playing in the Blue Turf Bowl? Coach Nord is done put a fork in him.

First play of the week for me:

Utah -1 (Bodog) over Cal **

Like Utah in this spot, Cal coming off a home loss to CSU from the MWC, while the Ute's went into one of the toughest enviroments in college football and played A@M well. Spotlight game for the Ute's here, with a chance to show the rest of the MWC that they are back, I look for Urban to have the spread offense primed after tinkering with it the past two games. My main concern here is that the Ute's defense is suspect, but I think they can score with Cal and win this game possibly in a shoot out.

Update on Utah QB, from Salt Lake Trib

Update on Utah QB, from Salt Lake Trib

So while they lose the QB, they may get Johnson back at RB....

For the second straight year, the Utes suffered a major injury at the end of their second game, when quarterback Brett Elliott broke his left wrist trying to scramble for a game-tying, two-point conversion with eight seconds left in a 28-26 loss at Texas A&M on Saturday night. Texas A&M's Jonte Buhl leveled him 2 yards short of the goal line.
"In hindsight, I probably should have thrown it," Elliott said. "But I thought I could get to the corner and maybe get into the end zone. When I dove forward, his helmet hit me in the wrist. I knew right away something was wrong."
Elliott did not hurt his throwing arm, but he still is expected to be out several weeks -- and he will definitely miss the home game against Cal on Thursday night. Coincidentally, running back Marty Johnson is listed as probable to play for the first time in more than a year in that game, after tearing knee ligaments in the fourth quarter of a win over Indiana in the second game last season and spraining his foot in training camp a month ago.
"Anytime you lose your starting quarterback, that's going to have a major impact on your team," coach Urban Meyer said. "The good news is it looks like he can be back in about four weeks."
Sophomore Alex Smith is the most likely to take over as the starting quarterback against a Cal team that's 1-2, having lost to Kansas State and beaten Southern Mississippi before falling to Colorado State 23-21 on Saturday. The Utes said Sunday, though, that a decision between Smith and senior Lance Rice won't be made until later this week.
Rice has started 20 games in his Utah
career, while Smith has only a smattering of game experience. He played briefly in a loss at San Diego State last season, and saw some time in the season-opening victory against Utah State this year. Overall, he's 7-for-11 passing for 90 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Here's my feedback on a few of your leans. No opinion on most of 'em, but here are game I do...

Washington +4

You did mean Washington St +4, right? Who knows what their mindset would be after blowing the ND game. This game is a pass for me, but I just wanted to make sure you didn't think it was Washington.

Duke-9.5

I would lean towards Rice, because asking a bad team (Duke) to win is one thing, asking them to win by double digits is another. I think Houston is better this year than people give them credit for, so the blowout of Rice doesn't mean that Rice totally sucks. If you don't see a running team like Rice often (and Duke doesn't), it's tough to prepare for. Rice had the extra week off to prepare, and I feel that their running game will give Duke troubles. Duke may win, but not by DD. Duke 24-20

Akron-19.5

I'm with you here. Akron actually played Wisky very tough (down by 6 in 4th Q, had 4th and goal at Wisky 1, got stopped. Very next play was a 99 yd TD pass) as the final score wasn't really indicitive of the game. Akron also should've (could've??) won the Kent St. game, so the fact that they're 0-2 has this line lower than it should be. E Mich is the worst, or 2nd worst (Buffalo) team in NCAA football, and they couldn't even put up a TD against Western Illinois. Akron scores at will in this one 49-10.

Wyoming-5

No real insight, but my initial lean was to Kansas. Wyoming isn't a very good team. Lots of their stats last week against OK St aren't really true, as they came late when the game was entirely out of hand. Kansas is playing better than they have in years, and are coming off a confidence boosting win against UNLV. If Kansas is treating that like a huge win, then they could be in for a letdown this week, but if they are treating it like a game they expected to win, then their confidence could be sky-high and will give Wyoming a battle. I'm not playing this, but I don't think you find any real value with Wyoming. Wyoming 28-24.

NW+4.5

I'm leaning the other way on this one as well. I think Miami-OH is much better than their first game showed. I was on them against Iowa, so I watched most of that game, and Miami defense is better than I thought. They were able to do a very good job against Iowa. And Roethlisberger just had a miserable game. He threw 2 INTs into the end zone as they were driving, and made a HORRIBLE decision right before the half, and threw an INT from his own end zone that was returned to the 1, where Iowa got a cheap score right before the half. He should find it much easier against a soft NW secondary. Also, Miami had the extra week to prepare for this game, while NW was preparing for an option oriented team, and now switches to a pass-happy team. In what should be a fairly high scoring game, I'll feel confident laying more than a FG. Miami 35-24.

Kansas State QB Ell Robertson out with a hand injury until 10/4, wont matter this week since KSU contains playing their Division 1AA playoff by hosting UMASS, but Marshall visits the following week.

This really isn't on topic of games this week, but as I watched final scores trickle across the bottom of my TV set, I had a thought. Maybe we can petition the NCAA or something to make it happen, but I would just LOVE to have the NCAA force Kansas St. play Virginia Tech in the first game of the season for the next 5 years.

After seeing Va Tech thump James Madison, and K St beat McNeese St, wouldn't it be great if one of these schools came into September with a loss every year. End any potential national champion hopes before Labor Day.
