Not sure about the Bama pick. Croyle is out for the season and they will most likely start a RS Freshman against Arkansas. Couple that with freshmen receivers playing on the road in Arkansas and I see the Hogs winning big.

My leans and opinions!

Miami -26.5
Houston SUCKS and Miami should blow them away. Especially if you get some punt/kickoff returns.

BYU +21
This is very good scrappy team. Their defense is very tough to play against and 21 pts is a lot of pts for Boise St. to cover. IMO a lot of value.

Michigan St. -2.5 (BEST BET)
If MSU starts the QB that came in the 2h against ND MSU will easily cover this number. I think his name is Stanton and when he came in the game the MSU offense looked very good. Indiana can only win if they receive gifts!

Washington +11
I think this is too many pts for ND to be giving up especially after beating Michigan and Michigan St. back to back weeks. UW is 0-2 but played a very tough Fresno St. team and a very good offensive team in UCLA.

USC -21
USC easily could have scored 60pts against BYU but officials took away at least 2 TD's away from USC and USC kicker missed 2 FG's. This is the opening Pac 10 game and so far this season USC has been very vanilla on offense and defense. USC WR's are coming along. I do not know exactly how good Stanford is but I think USC can cover the -21. THis will be USC last game before the big showdown against CAL (who I think is a top 5 team). I know for a fact USC will be throwing a lot to get the young WR's more experience and prepared for CAL.USC also has a lot of revenge against Stanford for 2 cheap shot injuries to USC in last years game. USC is 2-1 ATS this year and 3-0 ATS in the 2h.

Rice +31
Rice is a pretty good team and I won big on them last week. I do not think Texas will be too pumped playing Rice and 31pts is a lot of pts.

LSU -28.5
Saban will run up the score and try and show how great his team is against a weak opponent. Miss. St. is a horrible team and LSU should score at least 48pts. Plus LSU needs a lot of work on offense which means a lot of pts!

Arizona St. -6.5
ASU looked very good last week and playing at home ASU should cover this number. I do not think Oregon St. is over that LSU loss. Losing to the #4 team in the country because of 3 missed PAT's is devastating. ASU is rolling right now!

Houston, Texas
I had Rice too and I have watched 2 of their games and let's be very clear - they are not good. I dont lay lumber, but there is a very good chance they will not score on a Texas team that is better defensively than last year - when Rice didnt score until the last minute against the walk-ons. Apparently Mack told the team this week's goal is a shutout.

Sun Tzu after reading your post and thinking about it, Texas prob. will cover that number. I looked at what Texas did last year against Rice caliber teams and they destroyed them. You are prob. right and I am taking Rice off my lean list.

Posted earlier last week that Al Groh would run up the score on the zips to impress pollsters....Look for him to try and run all over Syracuse even at -22. Like Miami, Texas...Disagree on NCST. Tech has terrific team speed and at home, granted not WMU or Duke, but USC can attest, the Hokies are fast on Defense much quicker than OH ST. Piss on UConn...lost two weeks in a row on them. Like Troy on the road.

So Cal
leans are
ASU
Purdue
Oregon
maybe ND-11 .UW very poor defense (couldn't tackle anyone vs UCLA) ND shakey O can do well against UW. UW allowed 230+yds rushing to Drew in the first half.

Mr. Hockey:

Nice to see the totals this early which ones did you jump on early?

Sun Tzu

The reason that I leaned to Rice was that they have a seasoned backfield but you are more than likely right that Texas will steamroll them. I like your Oreg play but maybe the over in this game would be a better option since 32 is a ton of points to lay.

AU1999

Thanks for the inside on Bama I scratched it but I bet this game gets a ton of action as I believe it's CBS game of the week.

INJURIES OF NOTE - UNLV QB Kurt Nantkes was ?doubtful? heading into the Air Force game, and got in just three pass attempts. The Falcons dominated with 24-12 first down and 417-258 yard edges as backup QB Steichen hit 12-of-24 for 160 yards...

With Alabama up 38-0 versus Western Carolina, starting QB Brodie Croyle went down to a knee injury and was lost for the season...

North Texas was without top RB Patrick Cobbs and backup Kevin Moore was left at home for disciplinary reasons, but still piled up 507 yards versus Colorado. That was by far its best offensive performance of the year with Jamario Thomas rushing for 247 yards

It was questionable if Washington State QB Josh Swogger would hold on to his starting job heading into the Idaho game. He had a solid performance hitting 12-of-19 for 196 yards, but injured his knee early in the fourth quarter and did not return. WSU still trashed UI, leading 49-0 before UI got its only TD with :17 left...

SMU?s defense was hit hard by injuries, including the loss of its top two middle linebackers. The Mustangs were no match for Oklahoma State in the 59-7 loss...

South Carolina was without starting QB Dondrail Pinkins, but Syvelle Newton hit 13-of-23 for 324 yards and South Carolina dominated South Florida with a 530-191 yard edge. Ironically during the week, South Florida?s opening-game starting QB Pat Julmiste got injured. Amazingly, the offshore sportsbooks and Vegas took the game ?off the board? for the unheralded Julmiste who did play and hit just 2-of-10 passes. Ronnie Banks, the more experienced QB, got the start and is actually the better QB. Julmiste?s absence should have lowered the line as opposed to raising it or taking it ?off the board.?

BACKDOOR AND FRONTDOOR COVERS - Virginia Tech blew numerous scoring opportunities throughout the game versus Duke, and settled for 21 and 28 yd FG?s. The Hokies actually did not get ahead of the spread until 5:45 was left in the game on a Cedric Humes TD run, which appeared to salt away the ATS win. However Duke, which had just 11 first downs and 133 yards to this point, went 64 yards in nine plays. On fourth and 11 with :44 left, Duke got a 35 yard TD pass for the backdoor cover...

The Arizona State/Iowa side was clear, as ASU thoroughly thrashed Iowa with 23-6 first down and 511-100 yard edges with the Hawkeyes gaining 47 of their yards on their final drive of the game. The frontdoor cover happened for the total. ASU clearly wanted the shutout, and rejoiced every time they stopped Iowa and appeared to have the shutout in hand. With just :18 left in the game, the Sun Devils punted from their own 36. Iowa simply returned the punt 83 yards for a TD, putting the game ?over? the 47-point total, 44-7...

The Penn State Nittany Lions caught a bad break before the half when they were driving for another TD in what would have been a 28-3 lead, but an interception returned 59 yards set up a UCF field goal to pull within 21-6. Also, a 54-yard punt return by UCF with 7:41 left in the game put UCF in the backdoor. PSU went three and out, but roughing the passer gave the team a first down. The Nittany Lions continued on a 73 yard, 10-play drive and got a 22-yard touchdown run by Gasparato with :44 left for the frontdoor cover...

Toledo led Eastern Michigan 42-17, but EM would get the final two TD?s including one for a two-point conversion and got the backdoor push with 2:15 left.

MISLEADING FINAL - The misleading final in the Nebraska/Pittsburgh game came in the fact that 41 points were scored, and neither offense was effective. The Cornhuskers had just 265 yards, and Pitt 258. Sixty-one of the Panthers? yards came on their final desperation drive. NU got a minus three-yard drive for a 26 yard FG after an interception and a three-yard TD drive after an interception in the first half. Pitt got a 96-yard KO return for a TD for its points. Pitt?s only offensive TD was set up by a NU interception with 4:53 left, and the Huskers got a 35-yard TD pass. Pitt did end the game at the NU 15-yard line with its final pass falling incomplete in the end zone.

DOMINATION BUT NO COVER - Oregon State dominated New Mexico with a 398-114 yard edge. The Beavers had the ball for more than 38:00, but somehow laying just 13 points, only won the game by 10. During the game, OSU was stopped on downs at the NM 35, missed 43 and 34 yard FG?s, settled for a 35-yard FG and finished the game at the NM 20-yard line running out the clock. NM?s ONLY TD came when OSU appeared ready for a 21-0 lead. The Beavers had a first and goal at the NM 5, but were sk?d & fmbl?d and NM returned the fumble for a TD and amazingly got the cover...

Georgia?s D dominated Marshall with an 18-7 first down edge, but the key play in the game happened with MU trailing 10-3 and facing a fourth and goal at the UGA 2. The Thundering Herd went for the TD, but the pass fell incomplete and UGA got its third straight lackluster win at home. Georgia is a dismal 0-3 ATS this year...

Houston RB Anthony Evans rushed for 282 yards versus Army. UH piled up a 32-13 first down edge, and the Cougars had 647 yards while Army had just 337. UH settled for a 27-yard field goal, fumbled at the Army 19, settled for a 39-yard FG and was intercepted in the end zone in the first half. At the end of the game, they were in Army territory driving, but simply took a knee on the final play and won by 14 while laying 15.
