Hawkeye,

Just an intial lean, although this will be the first time in awhile that the Aggies have left home. Still need to look at a few other things before deciding!

Today's top story ... Big Oregon injuries
The Ducks suffered a couple key injuries during Saturday night’s loss to Arizona State; Senior starting rover Marley Tucker will miss up to six weeks with a dislocated elbow, and senior OL Robin Knebel is expected to miss two-to-three weeks with an ankle injury; The Ducks play at Washington State this Saturday

Big Ten

Illinois
Despite a sub-par performance during Saturday’s loss to Wisconsin, senior Jon Beutjer will keep his starting job for this weekend’s game at Michigan State; Sophomore Chris Pazan, however, will move ahead of redshirt freshman Brad Bower and take over the top backup role

Pac-10

Washington
Despite being replaced by junior QB Casey Paus in the fourth quarter of this past weekend’s loss to Stanford, redshirt freshman QB Carl Bonnell will remain the team’s starter for Saturday’s home game versus San Jose State … Sophomore QB/WR Isaiah Stanback, who has been out of action since the opener (ankle injury), is set to return to action this week

Washington State
The Cougars will get a boost on the D-line this Saturday, as senior starting DT Steven Cook returns to the starting lineup after being out for the past three games due to a knee injury … Redshirt freshman Ropati Pitoitue, who is the team’s other starting DT, is still nursing a high ankle sprain injury, but could return next week versus Stanford

SEC

Alabama
Head coach Mike Shula has yet to announce which QB will start Saturday’s game at Kentucky, but sophomore Marc Guillon indicated that he expects to once again get the nod over junior Spencer Pennington

Arkansas
True freshman RB Peyton Hillis, who has six TDs in the first five games, could miss the remainder of the season with a back injury; Hillis broke three small bones in his back, and the injury normally takes six-to-eight weeks for recovery; Junior De’Arrius Howard will take over as the top RB in short yardage situations

LSU
Sophomore starting WR Dwayne Bowe and senior starting CB Corey Webster did not practice on Monday and both are questionable for Saturday night’s game at Florida; Bowe suffered an ankle injury, whereas Webster hyperextended his knee during this past weekend’s loss to Georgia …

Let me preface this with the fact that the Sunbelt is by far my worst league to cap as I have really struggled to understand this league and the parity amongst the teams seems to begreater then any other league. As I began to research this weeks plays and get my numbers down one play continues to jump out at me and that play is Louisiana Lafayette, this team has been quite successful this year and outside of the Kansas State loss they have been strong even taking La Tech to the wire on the road. On the other hand, NMxSt has just been downright terrible on offense as they have scored only a grand total of 48 points this season and only 3 points in the past 14 quarters. Yet this line is even which seems to me to be quite off given the ineptness of Neww Mex St's offense but they did beat Troy State at home which just goes to show how strange this league is. If anyone follows this league I would appreciate your input into this matchup, as I said before the Sunbelt is by far the worst league for me to cap so I may be way off on this play.

Do you have any rating on the games you like? Or do you wager the same amount on all of them?

I am an Arkansas State Alum and follow the Sun Belt closely. ASU has covered every game this year and is very tough at home. I am very weary of them on the road when they are less than +7 point under dogs. Their next home game will be vs. Troy State and it will be only the 2nd home game (the 1 st was Memphis, which they gave away in the final 2 minutes) . There should be a large home crowd (homecomming) and if ASU is an underdog which they very well may be it may be a good play. A good source of sunbelt info is the local paper www.jonesborosun.com on Friday. I do agree that MNST is the weakest team in the league and that ULM has a very good offense but no D. North Texas could falter on the road , they lost their stud RB but the replacement had 100 + yards last week.

need injury update on MTSU and Ark State...can you get this data.

1st I like Illini..will give more data tomorrow.

what i have so far for anaylsis:

Tulane +3'....i'm not hot on this play
Nevada+18...fux'em..can't bet again after last weekend..
Ark State+6'...it's a definite play for teaser
Kansas St-2...pops up as a value play
Rutgers+6...only to be used in a teaser
Mississippi+17'...ATS play and a Stat play
Utah State+1'..strongest play..maybe be a laugher..i'll let you know if so
Penn St.+10'..Oh Me! a definite in a 6 point teaser..hope i won't tread in shit on this one.
Texas A&M-8.....don't see much competion on this one
Wisky+3'..hard to beat tressell back to back..probably layoff this game
Temple +13'...cincy is bad at home probably just as worse on the road ..way too many points
Air Force +2 comes up..now playing a team at their level..another great teaser ..don't see them getting beat by 7
Mississippi State+12..i think UAB is tough on the road but i think Watson Brown lets Missippi slide by with a COVER..thinking ahead ... TCU next week
Fresno State...i think they'll hurt UTEP real BAD...

have a few more favorites i like..will post in my thread tomorrow nite.

Sizzla,

thanks for the info greatly appreciated and please keep us updated on any info you get on the Sunbelt.

Joe,
I am seeing no injuries for Arkansas St and just one new one for MTSU:

09/26/04 LB Jonathan Bonner Neck is expected to miss the rest of the season

On your games (bear in mind that this is my first time through so things could change radically after my second analysis)

Tulane-coming in as an outright winner by 2, but another game where both teams stink and turnovers will decide the outcome.

Reno-I am showing Hawaii by 11

Arkie St-Coming up with MTSU by 3

Kansas St-Showing Kansas by 4, but more than likely I will go against my system on this play due to trend of KSU owning the series.

Rutgers-System showing Rutgers as Outright winner, this game currently is the highest ranked play my system has produced this year outside of Louisiana Tech last week which was the highest rated play the system has ever produced.

Ole Miss-Showing Carolina by 14

Utah State-Showing a 5 to 7 point win for Aggies.

Penn St-line looks tight to me, but second road game in a row for Due

Texas AM-Showing 7 point win for A@M but strong trends exist for Iowa State in this spot.

Wisky-I am showing OSU by 4, line has lost alot of value for the dog at this point. Buckeyes have some deep problems on the offensive side of the ball as the O-Line is a mess and Tressels play calling has been very bizarre. I have watched Wisky play two weeks in a row and their offense is far from impressive outside of Davis. There is no doubt that OSU will stack the box and try to take Davis out of the game as a threat and force Wisky to pass at which point I dont know if they will be able to pass since I have not been impressed with their QB.

Temple-Shows up again this week as a strong early play as I have Cinci winning by a max of 8, but I doubt if I can back this team again they more than likely have packed it in and are playing for a lame duck coach.

Air Force-line looks right, you would think they would be good on a teaser.

Miss St-I have UAB winning by 14-15 points

Fresno-I have them winning by 15 points, this is another team that has issues on offense.

Today's top story ... Iowa starting RB out for the year
As suspected, senior starting RB Jermelle Lewis will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL in his right knee; AN MRI revealed the tear and head coach Kirk Ferentz confirmed the news on Tuesday

ACC

Florida State
Freshman backup QB Drew Weatherford’s status for Saturday night’s game at Syracuse is still in question; Head coach Bobby Bowden will likely decide today if Weatherford can play in Saturday’s game; If not, Bowden must decide whether walk-on Tommy Keane or 2004 star recruit Xavier Lee would be the top backup to sophomore starter Wyatt Sexton

Big XII

Oklahoma
Junior RB Kejuan Jones, who missed last weekend’s game with an ankle injury, has returned to the practice field and should be ready to play in Saturday’s tilt with Oklahoma; Head coach Bob Stoops did not indicate whether Jones or star freshman Adrian Peterson would get the start versus the Sooners, but he did admit that both should see plenty of playing time

Big Ten

Penn State
Sophomore starting OT Levi Brown suffered a sprained knee during Saturday’s loss at Minnesota, and will likely miss this weekend’s home game against Purdue; Fellow sophomore Mark Farris will get the start during Brown’s absence

C-USA

Louisville
Sophomore starting OT Renardo Foster tore the ACL in his left knee during Saturday’s win over ECU. Foster, who suffered the injury while planting his leg during a screen pass, will miss the remainder of the season; He will be replaced, in the lineup, by junior Jeremy Darveau

Mountain West

New Mexico
Sophomore starting QB Kole McKamey will miss Saturday’s game at Air Force due to the effects of a concussion; McKamey, who does not remember most of last Friday night’s loss to Utah, underwent an MRI, which did not reveal any head injuries, but the team’s medical staff decided to rest him this week, as a precautionary measure; Senior QB Tali Ena will get the start during McKamey’s absence

UNLV
Senior projected starting TE Greg Estandia, who partially tore his MCL in late August, stepped on the field for the first time this season, during Saturday’s win over Nevada. However, Estandia is still not 100 percent healthy and may decide to take a redshirt season; He must make that decision before Friday night’s game at BYU

Pac-10

Oregon
Former Nebraska O-lineman Richie Incognito, who transferred to Oregon last Monday, will apparently transfer somewhere else; Head coach Mike Bellotti stated that Incognito failed to meet some of the conditions, which Bellotti had set forth in order to gain admittance to the Duck program

SEC

Arkansas
Head coach Houston Nutt announced that junior WR Carlos Ousley has asked for and been granted a release of his scholarship; Ousley was reportedly upset that he was not listed as the starting flanker for the Hogs’ next game versus Auburn, on Oct. 16 … Junior starting RT Zac Tubbs had to be transported off the practice field after injuring his ankle in Tuesday practice; The extent of the injury is not yet known

South Carolina
Head coach Lou Holtz has suspended senior starting WR Matthew Thomas for at least the next two games, due to class attendance and academics; Holtz indicated that Thomas will not be allowed to practice with the team, and that his status would be re-evaluated after the team’s bye week, which is three weeks from now; Sophomore Noah Whiteside is expected to fill the void

WAC

Boise State
Senior starting rover and kick/punt-return specialist Chris Carr will be sidelined anywhere from four-to-six weeks after suffering a broken collarbone during Saturday’s win over SMU; Redshirt freshman Austin Smith will assume Carr’s starting role and punt-return duties … The much-anticipated match-up between BSU and Fresno State (probably a little more anticipated before Fresno’s lost at LA Tech this past weekend) may still be televised on ESPN, but the game will remain on Saturday, October 23 …

Fresno State
Junior QB Paul Pinegar will keep his starting job, despite his sub-par performance over the past couple of games; Head coach Pat Hill noted that Pinegar needs to cut down on his turnovers, but remains in his corner

Nevada
Head coach Chris Ault indicated that sophomore Jeff Rowe would likely remain the starter, but Ault indicated that classmate Travis Moore would also see action during this Saturday’s game at Hawaii

Rice
Senior starting FB Ed Bailey and junior starting DE Thadis Pegues have been reinstated to the team following their one-game suspensions due to undisclosed violations of team policy; Coming off its 70-63 loss at San Jose State, the Owl play host to SMU this weekend … Senior starting QB Greg Henderson is questionable for Saturday’s game after having been admitted to a San Jose hospital following last weekend’s game; Henderson coughed up blood during the game, but tests revealed no internal damage

As I go through this weeks games for a second time a couple of games are sort of setting up as traps for the favorite's and I was wondering if anyone else see's these as possible solid plays:

Penn State
This falls into two different scenerios: 1) This is Purdue's third straight away game and I forget whom it was that posted a thread the last few years about betting against teams in their 3rd straight roadie but as I recall it was quite profitable. The second scenerio is this is a classic look ahead game as the Boilers have Wisky and Mich the following two weeks at home. Penn St had a decent showing on the road the last two weeks against Wisky and Minny but the offense has been non-productive but bear in mind in the Wisky game PSU was forced to use a QB whom had no game experience due to injuries.

Clemson
I know that Clemson has looked terrible this year but I really think they are better than what their record indicates. They have had a extra week to prep the offense to get back on track against UVA so I expect Whitehurst to look much better, Who has UVA beat this year? Other than Cuse they have beaten bottom barrell teams that will finish close to last in their respective leagues: Akron, brutal defense, UNC, brutal defense and Temple, do they even have a defense on the field? UVA's next game is against FSU which should decide their fate as far as having a shot at winning the ACC

Master,

I am leaning towards Vir, b/c i think after Clemson snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against Georgia Tech, they haven't been the same team. The next week they got thumped by Texas A&M, hangover maybe, but then they got beat pretty good by Fla St. While Vir has padded thier stats against weaker opponents, they are still a better team and I think get the cover. Only concern is the back door. I don't know if an off week cancels out the three road game system, but this would be Clemson's third road game in a row. Also Virgina had the same week off to prepare. Good luck with your pick.

So Cal
VA is a very powerful running team , while clemson has been awful stopping the run .

Clemson D IMO is just as terrible as the likes of UNC , Akron & Temple

Also a primetime nationally televised game might be a great reason to run up the score .

IMO the only way Clemson make this a some-what competitive
game is if whitehurst has a stellar perfomance

Totally agree with Penn State :iagree: This line opened way off what I thought it would be. Most of the universe  is all over Purdue (you can take those consensus sites for what they're worth.

I like it!

Good Luck :)

Capper, why your view on clemson? I think Vir. just has to much Off. for clemson to stay close all the way.
I know its week 3 on the road for Purdue but Penn St. is just not a good team.
I also like Tex. A&M, any thoughts?
