3 came up:1. Navy5'...winning by 17
2. New Mex St.+4..winning by 12
3.Memphi+4..winning by 12

BYU is revenge-minded this week. (AP)
Colorado State at BYU (Thursday night)...BYU eager for rematch after ?sleepwalking? through 1st Q of LY?s 37-10 loss at Fort Collins. Cougs gained just 4 yds. and fumbled twice on first 3 possessions, which were converted into CSU TDs, helping Rams mount early 17-0 lead. Host has covered 4 straight in series.

Kentucky at SOUTH CAROLINA (Thursday night)...USC has covered 6 of past 7 in series (?Cocks 5-2 SU). But Carolina won?t take UK lightly following come-from-behind 16-12 victory LY. ?Cocks trailed 10-3 in final Q before outscoring 'Cats 13-2.

TCU at SOUTH FLORIDA (Friday night)...USF has been doubly-tough in friendly Raymond James Stadium since moving up to Div. I-A in 2001, as Bulls (21 straight home wins!) have posted 8-1 spread mark there last 2+Ys.

UNLV at AIR FORCE...UNLV geared-up for clash after collapsing in 2nd-H of 49-32 loss to AF LY (game tied at H!). Rebel HC John Robinson felt ?D? noticeably wore down in 2nd H in what turned out to be his squad?s worst defensive effort since ?99.

Auburn at ARKANSAS...Arkansas has covered 4 straight in series, which includes stunning 38-17 shocker at Auburn LY. Hogs dominated in trenches, outrushing Tigers by whopping 426 yds. to just 104.

Virginia at CLEMSON...UVA?s defensive strategy proved effective in LY?s 22-17 upset in Charlottesville. To neutralize Clemson?s aerial attack, Cavs played soft on line and kept Ss deep to force Tigers to complete short passes to sustain drives.

Kent State at MARSHALL...MU has covered 3 straight in series, and Thundering Herd has scored exactly 42 pts. in 4 of last 6 meetings.

Duke at MARYLAND...Maryland?s comfy 45-12 romp vs. Duke more one-sided than final indicates. Terps?who outgained Blue Devils 428-177?led 45-0 before giving up 2 late meaningless TDs. UM is 8-1 as DD chalk last 2+Ys (0-1 TY).

Nebraska at MISSOURI...In LY?s clash, Mizzou trailed just 14-13 in 3rd Q when Nebraska?s star STs performer Groce returned punt 79 yds. for TD. Tigers never recovered in eventual 24-13 setback at Lincoln.

Kansas State at OKLAHOMA STATE...OSU on vendetta following 3 straight lopsided losses to KSU. Cowboys claimed they were emotionally/physically spent from bitter 17-15 loss vs. Texas in week before LY?s 44-9 debacle at Manhattan.

Georgia at TENNESSEE...UT highly-aroused for this double-revenge game vs. UGA. LY?s banged-up Vols greatly missed injured QB Clausen in ugly 18-13 loss in Athens. Dawgs are 6-2 as road dog since ?98

Oklahoma vs. Texas (at Dallas)...OU (all as small underdog) has won & covered last 3 in series, which includes 35-24 victory LY. Sooners manhandled Horns in the pits LY, rushing for 213 more yds. in 11-point win. UT scored a TD with 1:58 to play.

Syracuse at VIRGINIA TECH...VT out for blood after suffering 2 consecutive DD upset losses vs. Syracuse. Gobbler QB Randall threw for career-high 403 yds., but 3 costly ints. hurt cause in 50-42 OT loss LY. Don?t forget, VT?s star RB Kevin Jones missed contest with injury. Orange just 3-9 as toothless road dog last 5+Ys (5-16 since ?92).

Nevada at WASHINGTON...Classic ?sandwich spot? for UW as this comes between payback with UCLA & upcoming Oregon State. Nevada has covered 3 straight vs. Pac-10 foes.

Ohio State at WISCONSIN...Wiscy has beaten spread in 4 of last 5 vs. OSU. Badgers star RB A. Davis rambled for 144 yds. in 25 tries (5.8 ypc) in 19-14 loss vs. Buckeyes in Madison LY.

Pennington, who completed 9 of 20 for 109 yds. with a TDP and an int., returned, but he was knocked out of game midway thru 3rd Q after hurting his throwing shoulder. Green RS frosh Avalos was 2 of 8 for 6 yds. in relief during 37-23 loss to Bulldogs, and o.c. Rader said on Sunday that Tide would prepare for this week?s game against So. Miss as if Avalos will be the starter. Starting DT Tatum (ankle) left in 1st Q vs. UGa and did not return, and starting sr. OLB Pope (ankle) played, but at far less than 100%.

AUBURN...Co-No. 1 RB Ronnie Brown (hamstring) left game at Tennessee after running for 65 yds. and a TD. Jr. ?Cadillac? Williams had 185 YR and a TD on 36 carries in win over Vols.

BOSTON COLLEGE...Starting LG Augie Hoffman (neck/shoulder) DNP vs. Ball State. And sr. DT Tom Martin (knee), one of Eagles? top defenders, left in 1st Q and did not return.

BOWLING GREEN...Starting RG Grubb (back spasms) & starting sr. SS Malone (knee) DNP vs. Cent. Michigan, and starting OLB Sayles (leg) left midway thru 3rd Q in 23-3 win over Chips.

BYU...Top QB Berry (hand) has missed last 3 games, but he was in uniform at San Diego State and might be ready to return vs. Colo. State this week. Cougs, who had scored only 34 points in previous 3 games, tallied 44 in win over Aztecs, with maturing frosh QB Beck completing 17 of 26 for 180 yds. with 2 TDP & no ints. and also running for 48 yds. & a TD. Starting sr. OLB Madarieta (foot) DNP vs. SDS.

CENTRAL FLORIDA...Strong-armed sr. QB Schneider (shoulder) DNP vs. Buffalo. HC Kruczek kept Knight attack very conservative in 19-10 home win over downtrodden Bulls, as jr. Rivera was 6 of 14 for only 59 yds. and ran 15 times for another 89 yards. Starting jr. OLB Bray (foot) DNP.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN...Top QB Perry (leg) DNP vs. Bowling Green and is thru for season. Sr. QB Vickers, who lost starting job to Perry in preseason despite having 23 starts in previous 3 campaigns, was 14 of 27 for 122 yds. in 23-3 loss to Falcons. Impact true frosh RB Seymour (384 YR, 5 TDs) DNP and is expected to miss next 3 games.

CINCINNATI...Bearcats played most of the 4th Q vs. Southern Miss without starting QB Guidugli (knee) & starting RB Hall (concussion). Cincy did not attempt a pass without Guidugli, as jr. George Murray, a former QB who has been playing WR last 2 seasons, ran 11 times for 69 yds. in relief of Guidugli. Bearcats were shut out for most of last 3 Qs in come-from-ahead loss to Eagles.

COLORADO...Top QB Klatt (shoulder) did not start for 2nd straight game, but he was forced into action late in loss to Baylor after soph Greenberg hurt his throwing hand in 4th Q. Klatt completed 3 of 8 for 53 yds. with an int. in relief, and he is expected to be back in lineup vs. Kansas this week. Top RB Purify (ankle) has missed last 2 games and is unlikely to be available against Jayhawks. Starting FS Moorer hurt his elbow vs. Bears.

CONNECTICUT...Star RB Caulley (601 YR & 7 TDs in first 4 games) suffered season-ending knee injury two weeks ago at Va. Tech. Frosh RBs Lawrence & Bellamy combined for 130 YR and 2 TDs in 35-17 win over Div. I-AA Lehigh last week.

FLORIDA...Gators? defensive front 7 was severely depleted in home loss to Ole Miss. Starting jr. OLB McCullough had season-ending shoulder surgery. Impact RS frosh LBs Crowder (knee) & Charles (leg), sr. LB Dwright Jackson (shoulder), and starting DT Parker (knee) were also unavailable against Rebs, who ran for 223 yds. and more than 6 ypc in upset of Gators. Crowder, Jackson, and Parker are not expected to return until Oct. 18 vs. Arkansas, at the earliest.

FLORIDA STATE...TBs Booker, a blue-chip RS frosh, and soph Leon Washington (elbow) are expected back this week after both sat out most of September. HC Bowden says their absence had robbed rush attack (fewer than 100 YR in each of last 3 games; 432 YR in first 2) of vital draw dimension.

FRESNO STATE...Top QB Pinegar saw his first action of season at Colo. State after missing first 5 games with slightly torn pectoral muscle. Pinegar relieved sr. Grady in loss to Rams and was 11 of 19 for 111 yds. with 2 interceptions. Starting soph RT Stevenson is expected to miss 4-6 after hurting his knee in game, and starting LG Pouono (concussion) DNP.

HAWAII...Warriors? ?Red Gun? attack was without its top 2 receiving targets at Tulsa, as sr. WR Cockerhan (ankle) & jr. slotback Owens (suspension) both sat out loss to Hurricane. Hawaii threw for only 249 yds. in game, more than 100 yds. below their average.

INDIANA...Starting sr. RB Lewis (hamstring) sat out vs. Mich. State. Frosh Green-Ellis & soph Chris Taylor combined for 144 YR in loss to Spartans.

IOWA STATE...Starting QB Flynn hurt his leg late in Oklahoma game, but is expected to be ready for Texas Tech game. Sr. RB Rutland is thru for season after hurting his knee at No. Illinois two weeks ago. Starting sr. DT Carstens (knee; 6-5, 303), Cyclones ? top run stuffer, DNP in loss to Sooners and is out indefinitely. Sr. DE Tyson Smith, team?s best pass rusher, was lost to season-ending injury earlier in campaign. Sr. G Bob Montgomery, ISU?s best OLman, has returned to action after missing first month with a foot fracture. But starting G Vander Sanden left OU game after hurting his leg.

KENT STATE...Top TB sr. Alston (foot) DNP vs. Ball State and will miss rest of season. True frosh RBs Beverly & Tillman lost fumbles on 3 consecutive 3rd-Q possessions in 34-17 loss to Cardinals. Versatile star QB Cribbs (1000+ YR in each of his first 2 seasons) has been held -20 YR on only 18 carries in two games since he sprained his ankle vs. Penn State.

MIAMI-FLORIDA...Starting RB Gore suffered season-ending knee injury early in narrow win over W. Virginia.

MIDDLE TENN. STATE...Starting sr. QB Hines missed most of Temple game due to back spasms. RS frosh Marks was 10 of 14 for 150 yds. with 2 TDP & an int. and also ran for a TD, and soph Harris was 4 of 5 for 32 yds. as Raiders nearly made up 41-14 deficit after 3 Qs in eventual 44-36 home loss to Owls.

NEVADA...Bread-and-butter RB Kretschmer played sparingly after hurting his shoulder in 3rd Q vs. UNLV.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE...Star RB McClendon (hamstring) has missed last 2 games. Wolfpack had -8 YR in loss at Ga. Tech last week.

OHIO STATE...Starting QB Krenzel is expected to be back in lineup at Wisconsin after sitting out last 2 games with a sore elbow.

PENN STATE...Jr. QB Zack Mills (knee), who started first 5 games of season, DNP vs. Wisconsin but is expected to be available vs. Purdue. Athletic soph Michael Robinson, who was pushing for playing time before Mills was injured, was 22 of 43 for 379 yds. with 2 TDP and no ints. in loss to Badgers.

SAN DIEGO STATE...Top QB Hall returned to action vs. BYU after sitting out last 4 games with a high-ankle sprain. Hall was 18 of 34 for 352 yds. with 3 TDP and an int. in 44-36 loss to Cougars. Aztecs had been held to fewer than 200 YP in 4 of 5 games prior to last week.

SOUTHERN CAL....Starting QB Leinart left in 1st half vs. Ariz. State after re-aggravating a knee injury, but returned to lead Trojans to scores on 5 of their first 6 2nd-half drives, turning 10-10 tie at halftime into 37-17 rout.

SOUTHERN MISS...Top QB D?Angelo (concussions) has sat out last 2 games and is expected to miss at least 1 more week. Struggling soph QB Almond was sharper in win over Bearcats, completing 9 of 18 for 133 yds. with no ints., and highly-regarded true frosh QB Carter was 3 of 6 for 23 yds. with a TDP and an int. in limited action. Top RB Blackwell (ankle) DNP vs. Cincy.

Brandon Hassell filled in for Tye Gunn last Saturday. (AP)
TCU...Top QB Gunn did not start, but returned to action vs. Army after sitting out a couple games with a shoulder injury. Gunn completed 6 of 10 for 103 yds. with no ints. in win over Knights and is expected to be back in starting lineup at South Florida this week. Top RB Hobbs (ankle) missed his 2nd straight game, but might be available this week. RS frosh RB Merrill has 367 YR in last 3 games.

TEMPLE...With top QB McGann less than 100% due to nagging knee & ankle injuries, highly-touted juco Walter Washington started at Middle Tenn. State last week. But McGann was forced to come on in relief after Washington left late in 1st Q with an ankle injury. McGann was 16 of 34 for 186 yds. with a TDP & no ints. and also ran for another score in 44-36 win over Raiders.

UTAH...Jr. QB Elliott (wrist) has missed last 3 games, but he might be available for action this week. Still, Elliott could have trouble winning starting job back from emerging soph Alex Smith, who was 25 of 38 for 340 yds. with 2 TDP and no ints. in win over Oregon. Prior to facing Ducks, HC Urban Meyer said ?we?re going to start running the spread offense the way it?s meant to be run and not be quite so conservative.? Sr. WR Miles, who caught a TDP in opener, quit team last week after losing his starting job, but RS frosh WR Savoy had 6 catches for 176 yds. and a TD against Oregon. Starting LT Boone (ankle) DNP and will miss 4-5 more weeks. But soph DE Ledbetter had 3 sacks vs. Ducks after sitting out Colo. State game with an ankle injury.

UTAH STATE...Scrambling starting QB Cox, whom HC Dennehy is trying to get to slide or run out of bounds more often, had to leave New Mexico game briefly after he was shaken up on a hard hit. Backup QB Crivello is thru for season after breaking his collarbone in loss to Lobos. Starting sr. SS Rosencrans (back) DNP, and starting CB Dennis (leg) is out for year.

UTEP...Highly-regarded RS frosh QB Jordan Palmer (shin), brother of LY?s Heisman trophy winner Carson, DNP vs. SMU and is expected to miss 2-3 more weeks. imho, would not go against nebraska, unless you can get the hook on the 7-- and still would be very leery--too many services on Mizzou, plus Pelini will not tolerate letdowns by the husker d--this is not an real talented team offensively, but the defense is playing with as much confidence as i've seen at nebraska in the last five or six years. mizzou has given up 40+ to both kansas and mtsu, and while nebraska will not put up 40, i am comfortable saying they will get 30. really don't think this missouri team can put up more than 21, and that may be a stretch:shrug: i got the huskers @ -5 on monday at pinnacle, and the line was -7 by tuesday. nebraska was able to rest some guys this past week against troy st., and will be healthy and anxious to start the conference season. good size play for me on the hometown huskers;)

King Cobra,

I will have the stats up in the next 20 minutes!

Ramajama,
Flip flop your idea and give me one good reason to play Florida? There defense is beat up, Zook is under intense heat, the offensive coordinator knows that he is gone at the end of the year. As I guessed at the beginning of the season the national title will come down to LSU and Va Tech, but anything can happen so the Gators could win.

WCB,

Being a huge Husker fan it's great to see the defense back to the way it was under McBride and maybe even slightly better with the speed. Still I am very nervous about the Huskers going into Mizzou, even when the Huskers were at the top of the college football pile they still struggled when they went to Mizzou. I agree with you on your point it will be tough for Mizzou to score but I still dont care for Lord at the helm and in close games he always throws the pick to seal the teams fate. Wish you luck on the game and will be hoping you hit your 5 point play but too tight of a ballgame for me to play the huskers.

I don't have a feel for this game. UL monroe has the QB questionable to play..the stats are about even..home advantage only but given 4 appears too many..i'll have more maybe friday...i looked at this game earlier in the week..didn't see anything that makes me want to play.

djchad has a 1 star on them on his runs.

i'll get back with you

Looked at this game a little closer...still uncomfortable with laying 4 points..but if i had to make a choice i'd run with UL Lay and hope Monroe fumbles several times. gl

Hey guys i live right outside Lafayette and UL-Lafayette is in my back yard. Got to say the Cajuns look ready for this one as this could be the (1) win for the season. Homecoming is always a big deal down here as the tailgating is outrageous and should be a solid crowd out in the bayou land for this one. The defense of the cajuns should be able to handle ul-monroe for the most part but im sure will give up a little yardage along the way, but the D is still the strenght of the cajuns. On offense the cajuns have had QB prob's for a few years now but can be kinda offset as UL-Monroe also has problems at QB. Think both teams will turn the ball over a couple times but can see the Cajuns playing their hearts out in this one as they badly want to get a win. Home field may prove to be the advantage that gets the cajuns into the win column. Not looking to play this one myself but think if ya play it gotta play the UL-Lafayette Cajuns.
