Early thoughts on Thursday

Detroit @ New Jersey

IF Detroit plays transitions defense like they did a couple nights ago this game will get out of hand. New Jersey with two losses in a row back @ home should be motivated for this game. Past matchups have proved that New Jersey style give Detroit alot of trouble. I like New Jersey to get Detroit out of their style and win by atleast 10 points in this spot. Would appreciate feedback on this game.

Spurs @ Clippers

Clippers coming home after a long road trip before break which was by far their best road trip this season. During that road trip they handled the Spurs rather easily. Spurs are in a rut right now, not sure which spurs team will show up. But I like a tough defensive battle in this one much like the last game they played in San Antonio. Anyone with thoughts, I would appreciate feedback.

Always interesting to see how teams come off the all star break.

I see NJ going over their team total, 97'. Detroit a jump-shooting team.. maybe lots of quick shots and if NJ rebounds well and plays w/ lots of energy, NJ will at least score a lot, but who knows if they'll cover... NJ always capable and good bet to score @100 pts at home it seems.

I disagree on SA at LAC, well, not that SA is in a rut, because they clearly are, but I think LAC won't be able to stop their big guys and LAC might be pumped up to play and run... so I see Sa/LAC over 186. Certainly LAC OVER 91'...

Just my two cents...

Thanks for the reply, I don't get props like that at my book.

As for the New Jersey game, the last time they played at Detroit they held their own on the glass. IF New Jersey is able to rebound on the defensive end this game shouldn't be close. The Pistons cant run with the Nets. As for Jerry Stackhouse he has his work cut out going against Kenyon Martin, who was able to shut him down in the last game. Nets haven't lost three in a row all season. I like them to put out a good effort @ home. They should be able to hold their own defensively, and on the defensive boards and run the Pistons too death.

As for the Clippers game, it seems when a team goes out on a long road trip and come home with a day or so off they usually put out their best defensive effort. I am not sure if the Clippers apply but against the Spurs who usually win on defense and they don't run a whole lot. I think the under is a strong play here.
