I just saw on cnn that even Baltimore Maryland got flooded pretty badly and many have lost their cars, boats, and damaged homes. Currently, it is pouring cats and dogs here in Toronto with wind speeds ranging about 50 miles. You all take care out there, sadly some lives have been taken and it is sad since there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.

Take Care

p.s. I just called my school to inquire if classes were cancelled, spoke to a lady and I asked her why they weren't...

Her response: sir, if we can drive in the snow, then we all can drive in the rain....

What a dumb ass lady

Re: East coast Mj's

Things are pretty bad in many parts of Maryland. Some areas of downtown Baltimore are under 4-5 feet of water down around the inner Harbor area. The worst part of the storm last night hit right at high tide and created 7-foot storm surges inland. About 1.25 million homes are without power down here.

Watching the news makes you realize how f**king stupid some people are though. There are people out goofing off in 4 feet of water downtown. What they didnt realize was that the storm winds lifted up alot of manhole covers and these morons are just walking along then disappearing and needing rescue because unknowingly walked into a manhole and are stuck in the sewers.

I have never seen so many downed trees, and not just small weak trees either. With all the rain in the past 8 months down here, the ground is saturated and trees are toppling from the roots because the ground is so soft. So far, I have been lucky in that I just lost power. My only loss is some freezer food. Fortunately, I have an ex that I get along with and is letting me stay there until I get power back.

Been a few casualites but hopefully the worst is over and people use COMMON SENSE in the next day or two and just stay put and let the city and rescue workers do their job.

KD I was wondering about the Inner Harbor and all of those shops there, I mean on a good day the water is literally right up to the edge. Same thing happened in Old Town Alexandria, very similar to the IH area, they got whipped by the storm surge.

The thing that kills me about these idiots is not that they are swimming in the water and maybe falling into a manhole, its the diseases they could catch by swimming not only in contaiminated river/ocean water, its also got backed up sewage in there. They interviewed some clown who was all gungho about swimming on King Street in Old Town, when they told him hey so how do you feel about diseases in the water from the sewage, hes like UH WHAT. Morons.

Ace,

I heard on the news that parts of Alexandria has 9 feet of water in the streets. The area of Annapolis around the Naval Academy had about 7 feet of water earlier this afternoon.

Feel for those affected. We got it last year at 100+ mph.

Good luck.

I'm back online after 94 hours without electricity. It was almost a pleasure to go back to work today and be able to see things under bright lights! I'm into camping so we had a few essentials like a propane stove and three coolers. We were fortunate that most of our trees survived (one came down but only ended up about 30 feet from the house) but many of our neighbors weren't as lucky. The local ice plant was out of ice by Saturday but we have family whose power was restored pretty quickly and they were able to take some of our frozen foods and keep us in ice until we got "juice" back.

I'm just thankful that it wasn't worse than it could have been! :)
