tpups would have been much better with the 2 guards, but the wolves suck in the paint. garnett is still a 1 man team.:(

detroit was the deeper and much better coached team.

ps. Fluck david stern ! his speeches are so anti-dramatic and he insullted the pistons at least twice tonight by the way he expressed himself.:thefinger :thefinger

I am not biased. Could care less which conference is better, no effect on my life. Western Conference is going to be reconfigured, and players are going to move. The Mavs will never win a championship. Memphis is a high riser in West, and they have Garnett, but sun setting on this Lakers edition, and I am not as big a believer in Spurs as others.

Comments not so much a knock on West as what I see as dramatic improvement in East. The talent is there, and LeBron is going to be the driving for in basketball for the next 15 years. It's only starting with him.

yes u r biased....i've watched ur posts throughout the finals and they clearly have a slant....4 of the 9 guys i listed r 4 of the 5 best players in the game(kobe, garnett, duncan and dirk)all i keep hear u bringin up is lebron....is that it? lebron?hahaha....outside of tmac and maybe jermaine u cant give me one superstar in the east that is same caliber of the 4 i've mentioned and that includes ur boy lebron....maybe one day but not yet....furthermore hes no better than carmello thus far imo....just dont make the mistake of all of a sudden comparing the east to the west because the pistons won.....that is 1 championship in how long? still not taking anything away from detroit and maybe they'll repeat but there is no question where the balance of power in the nba is....clearly in the west.....and for the immediate future as well....please try to convince me otherwise....it'll be entertaining :tongue

I didnt say balance of power is in the East now, but I do believe it will be there in the next 10 years. Everything goes in cycles. Carmelo is not Lebron. Lebron is going to dwarf the other stars you listed, just watch.

It'll be interesting at the least.

i agree with most of what you said..but lebron is not gonna dwarf the other stars.. unless there's something that i'm missing, a human being is only capable of performing on a certain level..and that level is not high enough to dwarf duncan and the other stars

This is how I would rate the teams this year heading into the playoffs. That means I am not counting injuries that happened in the playoffs.

#1) Lakers (if they were healthy)

#2) Wolves (if Cassel did not get injured)

#3) Spurs

#4) Pistons

#5) Pacers

I don't think the Pistons would beat a healthy Lakers, Wolves, or Spurs team. Maybe not even a healthy Pacers team although I think Tinsely was injured prior to playoffs.

I don't think anybody can argue with my list. Except maybe flipping Lakers and Wolves.

Okay, we can all throw up hypothetical scenarios like you have. But the fact of the matter is, the Pistons were playing their best basketball at the right time, when it mattered. That's what playing like champions is all about.

Team chemistry meant everything to this team. Ben Wallace's emergence on the offensive end, and the addition of Rasheed made a huge difference.

As for the West, I think the T-Wolves would have offered the best matchup. San Antonio, even with their string of consecutive wins at one point this season, is not better than last year's squad. Even if Malone was healthy, I think the Pistons' relentless pressure would have worn out L.A. physically and mentally anyways. They certainly took the Lakers by surprise with their EFFORT. And "effort" is key. It's not necessarily the perceived "better team" that wins. It's the team that "plays better. Look at the Pats against the Rams, or D-Backs over the Yanks. :)
