I hate to start another NHL thread and will keep my lockout talk in the other thread, but if there are any labor law guys out there I have a question:

The NHL has given three straight proposals with no counter offer from the Players Association, after todays meeting ended without an agreement OR COUNTER OFFER from the Players Association both side held a press conference, the NHL said they have given all they can, the Players Association said they have no intention of picking up the phone this weekend. This clearly leads us to believe they are refusing to negotiate, right? If so can the NHL now delcare an impass and allow replacement players starting next season?
I know the NFL went this route previously, but I don't remember the exact circumstances.

Any help is appreciated.

Well, I'm not a lawyer, but.......I did hear something interesting on a Canadian sports channel tonight......

They feel there isn't an expert anywhere that wouldn't side with the NHL on this one, and grant permission to use replacement players, however the NHL will try to avoid this because of immigration laws??? Something about an agreement in both the USA and Canada, where work visas will not be issued to "scabs"????
