I really don't see how Edwards is going to be a huge building block for Kerry, by adding Edwards to the ticket what state or region do the democrats think he is going to carry them to wins? If the thinking is in the south then whomever thought of that idea should be canned immediately as he cant even carry his own home state. I really don't see Edwards playing well in the in the great lakes industrial areas such as Ohio, Penn, Mich, Wisky, Minn etc.. he is going to be hammered for his background as a trial lawyer and I don't think that will play well here in Ohio. I could be wrong but Idont think he is going to lock up any of the states that were in play, I thought Richardson would of bee nthe best choice as he would of carried New mexico and brought out the Hispanic vote but he backed out of contention. Gephardt would of at least helped in the Midwest! If Edwards main purpose is to attack Cheney then I think he will do a excellent job, since I saw Cheney by a fluke accident at the Football Hall of Fame and the guy is a goofball! There are so many good Republicans out there I dont understand why Bush saddles himself with a guy like Cheney his polling numbers are at 12% right now according to MSNBC as to whether people trust him. At this point I have made up my mind to vote for Kerry as the lesser of two evils, I toyed with voting for Ralph but something just doesn't seem right about his campaign this year!

the vice- president has become more important over the years.

this is going back to the carter years when he put the vp's office in the west wing.

and over the years it has evolved to a more meaningful postioin.

gore & cheney are two examples of a vp becoming more important.

on what grounds are people comparing edwards to john kennedy ?

the only thing that i can think of is looks. he looks like a kennedy. but that means nothing.

btw, the same group that labeled kerry the most liberal senator, labeled edwards the 4th most liberal.

now we have 2 east coast liberal senators running on the dem's. side.

i don't think that will play well in the heartland.

"the bunker"
didn`t say that the comparisons are valid....just that they will be drawn.....and i`ve heard the kennedy thing mentioned 3 times already this morning.....

young....handsome.....energetic.....optimistic.....all the buzz words....

whether you agree or not, this "young gun coming out of nowhere" to become a rising star in the party theme seems to work for them.......witness clinton and kennedy....

as far as carrying states,i don`t put a ton of credence in v.p.`s carrying states and regions...i believe image is more powerful than substance in this country......

he may well help the dems carry north carolina....or he may not....but,aside from the "trial lawyer" thing, this guy carries very little baggage....cheney,on the other hand, has been vilified by the press....

i personally think cheney is a very smart guy..i like him......but,he`s been labeled as a "corporate monster"....right or wrong, the media is running with it....

the main theme here is "do no harm".....and edwards fills that bill...except for the lawyer thing....that`s a formidable albatross for any poor s.o.b. to lug around(eddie,i`m commiseratin` with ya`) ...

.the party faithful love the guy....

if the republican`s were smart, they`d try and figure out a way to get mccain or giuliani to slide into the v.p. slot.....

but even giuliani has some serious baggage(his infidelity problems).....

they got the pretty boy....the trial lawyer that`s probably a very solid guy in a debate.....

imo, very formidable problem for george and dick....maybe not for george and mccain....but,it won`t happen...and this will be a dogfight to the end...

Not even a slimey trial lawyer could defend Kerry's 30 year history of weaknesses. His track record is putrid and Edwards really couldn't do too much to defend it. I like how the lawyer kept scattering his papers all over the place, you could tell he was aggitated. He looked like a used car salesman. I didn't know that shit about Edwards missing 33 of 37 senate meetings. When Cheney brought that up Edwards just sat there like a deer in headlights. I think Edwards did Ok on domestic policy but when it comes to the war on terror and defending Kerry's flip-flops, Kerry and Edwards got crushed.

By far the most devistating blow came when Cheney hammered home that Kerry voted against the 87 Billion because Howard Dean was gaining momentum on the anti-war ticket. Kerry switched his position on Iraq only to put HIMSELF in a favorable political position!!!!!!!

Isn't it funny how intelligence challenged individuals perceive an event in the light that only reconfirms their respective pre-existing beliefs. I thought both had strong and weak points.

The crushing and agitation of Edwards must have taken place when I flipped (as in flopped) over to WB64 to watch Moesha going to the prom with Brad.

Edwards only claim to fame politically is being on the Senate Intelligence Committee of which he has missed 70 % of the meetings.....one hearfbeat away from the Presidency and has no
experience or exposure (minimal at best) to the actual workings of the gov't or the intelligence....maybe he can channel the spirit of FDR or JFK instead of an unborn fetus...half the battle is showing up, he certainly isn't doing that and he def. is not holgding up his end for his constituents...so why would you expect him to do it for anyone else... they both cry about the wealthy not paying their share yet they both funnel money to avoid paying taxes on it...Edwards thru corporate shells and Kerry hiding behind his wife's right not to release her records....check out partyoftherich.com or howiecarr.org for some info....neither are stellar choices and neither is bush or cheney, but they will be much stronger on defense than either kerry or edwards and they will keep more of my money in my pocjket then going to some knee jerk welfare package or subsidizng someone else too lazy to get a job or better themselves and just manipulating the system...

Tell me Raz about how much foreign affairs experience Mr. Bush brought to th the white house in 2000? The only foreign affairs he had any familiarity with keeping illegals from crossing the Rio Grande.

However you may have a point on Edwards lack of experience. -Look how badly the former Texas governor has screwed up the world.

there all hypocrites Eddie, just sticking with the one I know and who is not crying the wealthy pay all the taxes while doing everything to avoid paying their own fair share...do I think we should be there now, no i don't , but I also think we should bomb every fukn pocket of resistence and kill anyone that takes 1 American life with the same lack of discretion that they have shown, I would level any place they used for refuge, religious or sacred grounds...and I would also put sanctions on those countries that denied initial support for example France, name 1 product we need from France? there wouldn't even be a France if it wasn't for us, they'd all be having sauerkraut surprise tonight....your right the people coming over the border are criminals and aliens, they are breaking the law the minute they cross the border and if kerry and Edwards were elected they would still be protecting their money while expecting us to pay more to subsidize the fukn mooks that make it across....maybe throw some of our cash at an english as a second language program, lol!
