Anyone have an electric heated flooring system?

We have a 20x10 room that is an extension to the house and it is on a crawl space, but the way the house is built, we need an electric heater. It does the job, but it loud and annoying when it kicks on. We are about to get new carpeting and I saw an article in the paper around electric heating floor systems that go underneath the carpet and heat the room.

It seems the hydrolic heating systems are much better, but they also seem to be much more expensive.

Was curious if anyone has this installed? If so, how big of a room are you heating and how satisfied are you with the heat it generates?

Thanks!

I marketed them for an electric cooperative for a few years, along with other electric heating options. Honestly, I think the products have improved over the years - from what I was told and read about, and many people who both sold/installed them and had them installed really liked them.

I have heard of people who had problems with the coils and other parts, but not many. I think it might come down to personal preference, for the most part. A warm floor sure can be nice, with the heat radiating up.

And with oil and energy prices high, it can be really economical - sometimes rebates available, depending on your supplier.

Good luck to you - I'd check around some, maybe some people in your area that may have them done.

having one installed as I'm building a house in late may, current basement floor is cold as ice. After doing some research and all, I decided to go ahead with it. Had a nice 2 hour discussion with the contractor and he showed me some previous work.

Dr,
you getting it done in East Lansing or Toronto? If it is EL, who are you using?

Can I asked (rough estimate), how much you paid? We need to get about 250 sq ft done

Thanks
