Above the Clouds....
Has anyone purchased a new car with the employee discount program? We are thinking of trading in a 2003 Malibu if the deals sound good. What can I expect and is there any negotiating?

Thanks,
Bob

Was negotiating a deal for a GMC Envoy (didn't end up getting it). The salesman gave me his price and then later the manager came by and cut $1000 from the price. There is room for negotiating. The deal was very good but I was doing it more out of curiosity.

THERE IS NO NEG. ON THE EMP PRICE, ITS SET IN STONE, YOU WILL HOWEVER GET ANY REBATES BACK TO CONSUMER DEDUCTED, THE ONLY NEG. IS ON YOUR TRADE IF YOU HAVE ONE, I HAVE BEEN IN AUTO BUS. 36 YRS.

ABSOLUTLY NO NEGOTIATION ON EMP PRICE, THE INVOICE STATES THE EP PRICE, WELL DISCOUNTED BELOW DEALER COST, THE DEALER GETS REIMBURSED FROM CORP. IE------------ GM, FORD OR CHRYSLER, A SMALL % OF PROFIT.

I purchased a 05 silverado last friday thru this program. The only thing I can say is to make sure you get the cash back incentive on top of the employee discount. The 1st dealership I went to didnt tell me a thing about the cash back thing. I ended up at carmax and they broke everything down for me. They said dealerships dont have to offer the cash back incentive. So if I would have bought from the 1st place I would have ended up paying $3000 more.

There is no haggling when it comes to employee discount. But if you're at a dealership that is participating in the employee incentive deal, don't forget to see if they're offering any other discounts at the same time. You'll get the car at the employee discount price along with any local dealer's incentive discounts also. Best of luck with your new car.

purchased an AWD 05 VIbe, saved me about $2300. Great on gas for those trips between Michigan and Ontario. 2 weeks and I'm still on first tank (590kms, 1/4 gas left).
