Just made the decision to put down my original German Shepherd. 13 years, to which I had for the first 5, and my parents the last 8 years of her life. Brutal. Vet came to house, severe pain with no movement at all in back legs, as well as a tumor in the right leg and most likely ligament damage. Very difficult and really not needed right now given what I have went through these past few weeks. Can I get a break, please?

Older borther of mine had to 'lay to rest' a 13 year old Yellow Lab that I spent a night or two with...great dog and he saw it all.
He wrote the dog's obit.....I thought I saved it...I didn't....e-mailed him....I'll copy and post when I receive it....it's a dog gone good life and a great goodbye

Rutt ~ Row ...., Mine eyes have scene the 'Glory', from the setting of the Sun, thru the rising of the Moon .... be that on Rosewood, at the Blue Heaven or Tomahawk Creek. I have witnessed the triumphant thrill of victories and the agonies of defeat, and a whole lot more that I will never repeat. The language in various tongues, that I've heard, I couldn't repeat even if I wanted too. While the stories I could tell .... if only a good ol' Boy like me could talk .... would surely shiver the timbers of many of those that shared a night w/me over that past 13+ years, whether you were a room mate or just passing thru the nites fantangos. Yes indeedee we've surely had some good times.
I have romped the fruited plains of Leawood and Overland Park, even some after hours in Manhappiness .... and I've led many a soul on daring episodes of catch-me-if-ya-can. But back in my hey day, any time of the day or nite, any opening a door would offer, started a wild goose chase .... 'n it sure was fun !!! (And just for grins .... I took a 'Final Final Romp' around Tomahawk this morn, while O'Tommy boy was writing this .... got him all hot and bothered and I was outa breath .... but he didn't yell at me today.) It's been a good ride boy's and I've appreciated all the love and laughter that we've shared. All the pats, scratches and rubs, you ever administered, were thoroughly enjoyed and gurrrreatly appreciated. The snuggles were nice too, from those of you that were drunk enough to care.
Now I gotta tell ya what went down here, cuz I know your all wunderin ..... ? Well, I've really had a pretty enjoyable life style here, ya know, A.C. and wall to wall carpet, HD Surround Sound cable TV, plus a plush grass lawn to pee in .... it ain't to bad. And peein is what's lead me to this point. Ya see, "I can't pee any more" and that SUCKS !!! But breakfast sure has been good lately tho .... bacon grease w/real bacon on science diet is like frosting on a cake (just so's I'd eat my medicine .... that didn't do me any good). So not peein and getting a catheter shoved up my pinkie ~ just to empty me out, was gettin real old really fast. So I looked at the ol' Bossman (my bestest Buddie) and asked the dude to bust out that soundtrack to Braveheart and fix me some Steak 'n eggs w/twice baked tatter's 'n a splash of sour cream. Now mind ya .... I wouldn't share any of it w/him and I even licked my own plate clean too. Then, the O'Boy poured me a Schlitz and patted me on the head, turned and walked outta the room, mumbling something about "Ya only go around once Bub, so go for the Gusto" ..... And then .... this dreamy 'Hot Tamalie Doc' w/some sexy purple scrubs on, and some sweet smellin perfume, came in and schnuzzeled up next to me .... and I didn't feel a thing.
So my belly's full, I'm smell'n real sexy, I'm racin' the wind and chasin' the sun .... on an endless sea of shamrocks in the sky .... and I'm gonna howl at the moon all nite long .... cuz I can Pee !!!

Life long tender loving care from Dr.'s F.M. Gaddie and Ken Huggins and the Staff at The Stanley Vet Clinic .... and the Girls from Paddy O'Quigley's that watched over me from time to time. Ashes to be joined at some point in the future, with my colored kissin cuzins on the shores of the Lake O'the Zarks. Special Thanks to Tommy & Timmy and the Family and Friends of the Boys of Summer.
