What do you all think? I think its a crappy law. (150 deaths attributed to ephedra since its inception)
Most of those deaths occurred thru carelessness (not following instructions) overweight out of shape retards running in 100 degrees with sweats and 100 % humidity!

I mean if you are going to ban ephedra
ban cigarettes, fast food and alcohol, which cause thousands and thousands and thousands more deaths per year.

its not even close

Keep it legal... (its too late though)

Dont use it, but I have when I was younger. Can see how the side effects might cause probs. But I agree its not any worse than cigarettes, coffee etc..

I am almost always against government limitations.

Like anything, it's not good for you if it isn't used properly. I took some products with ephedra in it and I got used to or immune to the "side effects". I stopped taking them eventually, but not for anything health related. People misuse products, suffer some effects, and then want to blame others for their own actions. Don't really agree with the ban.

Maybe it's a bad comparison, but it's kind of like people that overeat at fast food chains and then get sue happy because they look in the mirror and see they are 150 pounds overweight. Are they going to ban fast food now, too?

This is one of the issues that I will never comprehend. One day, no one wants the government to control anything. The next day, they want to blame the government for not clamping down on harmful substances.

This issue is simply due to the fact that noone wants to endure blame for their actions. Someone dies from misuse of a drug...you gotta sue a corporation!

It's getting out of control, and it needs to be stopped. It's not like this bill is going to eliminate the ability to obtain ephedra. It will probably only increase the number of junk emails that I get for REAL ephedra from some crazy country... like Canada!:tongue

ephedrine has been banned in weight loss products in Canada for almost 2 yrs now. I have a health food store and had to take it off shelves. You can get 8mg ephedrine but that too is scarse.

I still do sell it though, 25 mg to people i know and trust.
And i get it from the good old U.S.A.

Gonna charge 100 a bottle now that it is banned their too.

too funny...once again the government over reacts ...to absolutely nothing but circumstantial evidence...if any at all...

there are a minute % of ephedra users that suffer related health problems ...in addition to that the people that this product was "linked" to that died..were abusing the product ..furthermore some were exposed to extreme physical conditions...

lets say for argumments sake that we can prove that 2% of the people that use the product ..out of say 10,000...died from side effects directly from ephedra ....

lets put that number agianst alcohol and cigarettes...then come back and talk to me...

what is even more telling about the governments crusade against this product...is this fact...

remember when the orioles pitcher died over the summer....and all the papers and news agencies were saying ehedra "may" have played a role in his death...

well ..how many of you knew..that the autopsy did not find any ephedra in his system....I MEAN ABSOLUTELY NONE....

you know what the correlation was?...people said they knew that he had ..at one time taken products with ephedra as an ingredient.........

THINK ABOUT THAT....
