did anybody post Guns 'n' roses APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION?
I love Ride by Metallica, but the Black album would probably be liked by a wider audience.
I also didn't see Def Leppard's PYROMANIA, that's an awesome album.
Jackyl PUSH COMES TO SHOVE Came out in '94 I believe and had a very original sound with good songs. I expected more out of this band than this initial effort. "Rock me, Roll m, Jackyl me off!!" "I'm a lumberjack, now baby... I ain't jacked my lumber baby,,,, Since my chain saw,,,youuuuuuuu"

Doors weren't forgotten (at least in my head); Strange Days is probably my fave (LOVE When The Music's Over); also probably have to include LA Woman (and probably 1st) in any comprehensive list.

Personally, I can't stand them, but I'm aware that a number of other people are into them ... I'll give another listen if I can get a recommendation (even if I don't:shrug: ).
A number of interesting additions - several that I'm not familiar with. I take pretty much most of my projects too seriously, so I got my work cut out for me on this one.
This is Rock and Roll. The effort required should not be taxing.

Okay EXTRA ... this is my take based on what I could think of at the moment and/or am carrying around constantly in my CD book. Some were already mentioned and as you can probably tell by my taste, I grew up on metal (AC'DC, Metallica) and am now very into what they are terming Nu-metal. If you are a guitar person, I highly suggest purchasing the two CD set of Roy Buchanon. One of the greatest but was one messed up person. Was being considered for the Rolling Stones when Jones drowned but was too messed up for even them. Top 5 guitar player of ALL time. His singing is not very good but alot of his stuff has others singing.

Not an overzealous Phish fan myself, but there are a few songs of theirs I do like...
"Rocky Top"
"Runaway Train"
"Funky Bitch"
Anywho, since Led Zeplin was mentioned earlier, I have to admit that, to me, their BEST song they ever did was "In The Light." I remember eons ago in my late teens taking bong hits and spacing to this song. Ass going numb and giving the Dominos delivery driver a couple hits as his tip before devouring my Canadian bacon and extra mushroom pie with my closest friends...Ahhhhhh a mis-spent youth.

Zeppelin has been a personal fave of mine for a long time. Haven't been listening as much lately as I have heard all their stuff probably more than one human should listen to anything. Physical Grafitti is great - Chopsticks mentioned In the Light, which is a beauty. The first minute or two intro to The Rover (whole thing rocks) has to be one of my favorites. Kashmir is a tour-de-force: if you like great drumming, pop-on some headphones and check out Bonham's work here.
II and IV are probably my other 2 Zep faves.
Personally, I've been into heavier stuff lately. I still really appreciate the mellower stuff, and I have no choice but to give it due credit in this project. I am tempted to include stuff from all areas of popular music, but there wil probably end up being some pieces left off my list due to improper labelling as "rock and roll".
I don't think I've seen anything mentioned yet that would be disqualified, simply for that reason, but there are a number that I am unfamiliar with. I'll stir the shirt-pot and point one out if I think that happens.

you are showing your age listing the chambers brothers(lol). haven't listen to it in some time but a great album.
how come no one has listed:
the beatles white album, sgt. peppers, or abby road. or any of the stones albums (ie. sticky fingers). or clapton's cream album, which probably consisted of the greatest musicians of it's time in clapton, baker, & bruce. the who's tommy album was break through album for it's time. there was also another album that was really great put out by alvin lee & 10 years after (forgot the name). listen to alvin lee play guitar. he was a real master!!

The only time I saw the Allman Brothers was in St. Louis, MO when they went on the H.O.R.D.E. Fest tour. I was very fortunate to see them play, but unfortunate to only see them once.
I recall someone mentioned Deep Purple...I haven't listened much to them, but I do remember a song called "Space Truckin.'" I think that's the name of the song. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But, if I'm not mistaken, that was quite the jam...
