As of mid-January 2026, seven European countries—France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Finland, and the Netherlands—have sent small contingents of troops or military personnel to Greenland as part of Operation Arctic Endurance, a defensive response to escalating U.S. interest in the island under President Trump, showcasing NATO solidarity and Arctic defense.
