Every year at Christmas when I was a little boy we would drive to Arkansas to visit my fathers parents. We would drive at night and I would always look for the bright star that led the Sheppard's to Jesus birth. Christmas was a very happy time filled with presents under the tree and the story of Jesus. That was in 1953 and I was only 6. Christmas was about love and giving and being happy. I am 57 now and can still the happiness I felt. What the hell has happen???? You can't say Merry Christmas at office parties for fear of the company for being sued. You can't talk about Jesus in schools at Christmas. Parents tell your children Jesus was born on Christmas and that was a happy time and we give presents to honor his birth and we offer peace on Earth in his name....Merry Christmas to all........

On the course!
David,

I sent out this email at work yesterday.

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

But, since that might offend some of you, and the email system is only to be used for work related functions, I just wanted to take this time to remind everyone to use the proper parking procedure during snow removal this wonderful time of year.

I wish all of you a joyous and merry parking experience.

david, here's something refreshing.

My kids' Christmas program was held in a local church. The whole elementary school was up on the huge stage at one time. They sang things like "grandma got run over by a reindeer", "I ain't gettin' nuttin' for Christmas", etc., but they also sang many traditional Christian Christmas songs. A local man (who is in no way associated with the school or school system but a friend of the school's music teacher) cam up and lead the kids in the spiritual, "Amen!". He would say, Amen, and the kids would repeat. Then, he would do the different lines (like "walkin' to Jerusalem -- AMMMMEEEENNNN) etc. Was very powerful, and as far as I know, the ACLU has not filed suit. It was a great performance by the kids, and I'm proud they go to school there.
