On the course!
Most of you know about the "contest" that Nick Douglas and I are in. It is a small time thing, with a small time pay off. This is what Ben had to say today:

Good news. After I wrap up my handicapping contest with yyz at the end of this month, I?ve already lined up an even bigger contest after that. Starting at the beginning of February, I?ll be taking on a professional handicapper who works for a service in a one on one handicapping match at Best Bettor. It will be a 60 day contest where each man will make 100 plays.

Obviously it will be much more difficult to beat a professional rather than yyz, but I look at it as a good litmus test of my handicapping ability.

WTF?

News flash here, you are having a hard enough time beating me. You know..........a know nothing hack? How in the hell are you going to beat a "real pro"!?!

Perhaps this "pro" would rather take me on after your upcoming defeat?;) :nono:

at least Ace and Private Petey put up some ching, not some lame-ass "I'll be your butler for a day" giggle- reminds me of a Seinfeld pilot

We were going to play for your contest winnings, but we heard you blew it on a nine team parlay.

(Okay.....now's where you write, "At least I had the money to play!")

Why don't you drive up from the "northeast" and meet us all at the party? It's only a few hours up the highway.;)

Not sure what Nick would do with the $200 worth of Wisconsin highway tokens you'd put up, but that's really not the point. You diss Ace and PP yet engage in the exact same contest, which some would say is a bit hypocritical and/or jealous.

Oh, and that is the second innuendo you've made regarding my location- tell me Inspector Gadget what you've deduced to come to that conclusion. You're really getting a bit delusional.

I appreciate that, stud.

Alright, I might end up sounding like a real moron here, but this has been bugging me for quite a while.....

S-Love makes numerous references to yyz working the tollway and of highway tokens and such. Now, I lived in Wisconsin the first 23 years of my life and have been to pretty much the whole state. Does S-Love just do that as a means of talking shit, or are there actually tollways in Wisconsin that I apparently have never heard of??

I like to boost yyz's self-esteem- he's really a private investigator who's managed to pinpoint my whereabouts to within a 2200 mile radius

You guys are comic. But come on a contest with no ching ching. S-Love's got a point. What fun is that? I'm laying a Nickel on YYZ to kicks Nick's ass :D

The fun in the contest? For me, it is beating a guy like Nick.

You see, I feel a little like Woody Harrelson in "White Men Can't Jump".

I seemingly have no credibilty amongst the purists in here who feel that only hard work gets you through in this game. Only those who toil and tinker can get the job done. Those who feel they are better, have disdain for the rest of us.

So, like Woody, if I get beat down, I walk away a loser. But if Nick loses, he will have been beaten by a slow, white, geeky chump.

I am actually closer than I thought against a man of Nick's sterling pedigree. I mean, for a guy who uses everything from the Pythagorean Theory, to Hubble's Law of Red Shift, I expected to be well behind by now.

(By the way.......I offered to play for $50, but was rebuffed.)

yyz,

I laughed my ass off typing that up this morning. I'd forgotten about it until I read this thread just now. C'mon, man. You've gotta appreciate a good pot shot.

I'll take people on for money but I really don't like gambling with people over message boards. I tried to make the contest for something better than money (yyz being forced to sing The Super Bowl Shuffle at the SB party) but he declined. All of us make bets for money every day, so I'd rather make wagers against other posters for something more fun.

Nick, that is something a guy like Love will never get. Some people can't do things just for fun. As I said all along, what does a 30 games, two week "match-up" really prove anyway?

The S-Love's of the world are "too cool" to act up every once in a while.
