I checked out the ad online and it is a little irresponsible. That said, it didn't seem any more outrageous than some of the stuff that runs during hotly contested political campaigns. Certainly it is no more incendiary than the way many Fox News commentators characterize liberals.

Um Fox aired the swiftboat vets ads. I know and remember well how they were DTB's heroes, but they were all discredited at the time they came out and after.

So facts mean shit to Fox. It Just matters what side the "facts" land on.

Fox News is our own AL JAZEERA

Clem makes a good point they did run the Swift Boat ads that definitly were pure spectulation without any substantial proof and they did not make these folks edit out parts.

Master left wing wacko Capper, why exactly do you think Dan Rather was forced into early retirement. Just curious on how you will spin that one. If you don't like Fox News, don't watch it. You'll be one of the few judging from the viewership ratings the channel receives.

There you go with opinion again--void of facts--

Would you like to put up their remarks that were factually proven incorrect while I do the the same on Kerry.
I am sure you must have some "seared" in your mind.

Found numerous ones-will start with their one on Kerry claiming his experience of being in Cambodia on Christmas Eve of 1968.

Kerry-- in quote to Boston Herald in 1979

"I remember spending Christmas Eve of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian border being shot at by our South Vietnamese allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost being killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real."

-- President Nixon, of course, did not assume office until January of 1969.

On March 27, 1986, during a speech opposing President Reagan's policy in Central America, Senator John Kerry had this to say:

"Mr. President, I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by the Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the president of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared -? seared -? in me, that says to me, before we send another generation into harm's way we have a responsibility in the U.S. Senate to go the last step, to make the best effort possible in order to avoid that kind of conflict." [see Congressional Record - Senate of March 27, 1986, page 3594]

And again, in a 1992 article by the Associated Press:

"But for Kerry, who spent six violent months [sic] commanding a patrol boat on the Mekong River, there's always been a ring of truth to allegations of abandoned Americans. By Christmas 1968, part of Kerry's patrol extended across the border of South Vietnam into Cambodia.

"We were told, `Just go up there and do your patrol. Everybody was over there (in Cambodia). Nobody thought twice about it," Kerry said. One of the missions, which Kerry, at the time, was ordered not to discuss, involved taking CIA operatives into Cambodia to search for enemy enclaves.

"I can remember wondering, `If you're going to go, what happens to you,"' Kerry said.

As recently as May of 2000, U.S. News and World Report stated that, "Sen. John Kerry made his first forays into Cambodia during the Vietnam War as a Navy lieutenant on clandestine missions to deliver weapons to anticommunist forces."

Interestingly, Kerry's Cambodian sojourn, though "seared" into his memory by 1986, somehow failed to rate a mention in Kerry's own contemporary journal.

In "Unfit for Command," authors John O'Neill and Dr. Jerome Corsi document the impossibility of Kerry's story:

Despite the dramatic memories of his Christmas in Cambodia, Kerry?s statements are complete lies. Kerry was never in Cambodia during Christmas 1968, or at all during the Vietnam War. In reality, during Christmas 1968, he was more than fifty miles away from Cambodia. Kerry was never ordered into Cambodia by anyone and would have been court-martialed had he gone there.

During Christmas 1968, Kerry was stationed at Coastal Division 13 in Cat Lo. Coastal Division 13?s patrol areas extended to Sa Dec, about fifty-five miles from the Cambodian border. Areas closer than fifty-five miles to the Cambodian border in the area of the Mekong River were patrolled by PBRs, a small river patrol craft, and not by Swift Boats. Preventing border crossings was considered so important at the time that an LCU (a large, mechanized landing craft) and several PBRs were stationed to ensure that no one could cross the border.

A large sign at the border prohibited entry. Tom Anderson, Commander of River Division 531, who was in charge of the PBRs, confirmed that there were no Swifts anywhere in the area and that they would have been stopped had they appeared.

All the living commanders in Kerry?s chain of command?Joe Streuhli (Commander of CosDiv 13), George Elliott (Commander of CosDiv 11), Adrian Lonsdale (Captain, USCG and Commander, Coastal Surveillance Center at An Thoi), Rear Admiral Roy Hoffmann (Commander, Coastal Surveillance Force Vietnam, CTF 115), and Rear Admiral Art Price (Commander of River Patrol Force, CTF 116)?deny that Kerry was ever ordered to Cambodia. They indicate that Kerry would have been seriously disciplined or court-martialed had he gone there. At least three of the five crewmen on Kerry?s PCF 44 boat?Bill Zaldonis, Steven Hatch, and Steve Gardner?deny that they or their boat were ever in Cambodia. The remaining two crewmen declined to be interviewed for this book. Gardner, in particular, will never forget those days in late December when he was wounded on PCF 44, not in Cambodia, but many miles away in Vietnam.

As part of the supporting documentation given to station managers for our television ad, "Any Questions?" we provided this regarding John Kerry's "Christmas in Cambodia":

The story is a total preposterous fabrication by Kerry. Exhibit 8 is an affidavit by the Commander of the Swift boats in Vietnam, Admiral Roy Hoffmann, stating that Kerry's claim to be in Cambodia for Christmas Eve and Christmas of 1968 is a total lie. If necessary, similar affidavits are available from the entire chain of command. In reality, Kerry was at Sa Dec -- easily locatable on any map more than fifty miles from Cambodia. Kerry himself inadvertently admits that he was in Sa Dec for Christmas Eve and Christmas and not in Cambodia, as he had stated for so many years on the Senate Floor, in the newspapers, and elsewhere. Exhibit 27, Tour, pp. 213-219. Sa Dec is hardly "close" to the Cambodian border. In reality, far from being ordered secretly to Cambodia, Kerry spent a pleasant night at Sa Dec with "visions of sugar plums" dancing in his head. Exhibit 27, p. 219. At Sa Dec where the Swift boat patrol area ended, there were many miles of other boats (PBR's) leading to the Cambodian border. There were also gunboats on the border to prevent any crossing. If Kerry tried to get through, he would have been arrested. Obviously, Kerry has hardly been honest about his service in Vietnam.

John Kerry was never shot at by Khmer Rouge and Cambodians. He never took CIA operatives into Cambodia to search for enemy enclaves. In fact, John Kerry's boat never came within 50 miles of Cambodia.

any areas you would like specifically --or anything you would perceive to be totally false that was reported by swiftboat.
A lot of swiftboat reporting was opinion oriented but it was for most part disputing same. AQ lot of it was based onseveral other swift boat commanders vs Kerrys accounts. However much of it can be reasoned out by common sense-especially for those that served.
I've never seen purple hearts awarded for a bruise referred to as contusion in kerrys description-never seen one for a splinter (I get get medical report if you wish) the 3rd- schrapnel in the butt from grenade he used to destroy food bin of sort I would not like but wouldn't argue the point.Bronze Star--guy falls out of your boat--you got 2 choices-- let him drown or go pick him up.--a little on this episode. It was reported by Kerry and the man that fell off that kerry returned and pulled him back on board with cargo net--however when swiftboats came out reporter with Boston Globe( I can look up his name if you wish) that apparently said he was there- said in iterview he distinctly remembers kerry diving in water to rescue him. Hmmm
SilverStar Per Kerrys description they were taking fire from bank when they docked boat and he went behid hootch and capped off soilder thathad already been riddled with m-60. Another commander from another boat also on ground did not see occurance but walked around hootch after shot to see Kerry and dead soilder. What makes this ridiculous to anyone thats been there is A:you don't dock a boat on shore putting boat and mens life in jeopordy sitting stationary targets B: If there is hostile fire you won't have the brass waking around in plain view and their troops on the boats. So inclusion the only way you could have got 2 of the purple hearts and other citations was by nominating yourself and no one wanting to argue the point. However it was not uncommon for for brass to nominate each other as such citations were bebeficial to promotions.

and just who were these swiftboat vets --sixteen of the twenty-three surviving officers who served in Coastal Division 11 with Kerry (the place where Kerry spent most of his time) have joined the organization, together with most of Kerry's Vietnam commanders and 254 sailors from Coastal Squadron One, ranging from Vice-Admirals to Seamen.

While I am not doubting that some of what you posted is true, but some of the information was refuted by I believe William Rood (spelling could be off) in the Chicago Tribune whom has stated that a vast majority of the swift boat ads were false and misleading. I find it quite odd that a group of Vets would attack one of their own in Kerry in order to back a guy that has a highly questionable background of service in Bush and another in Cheney that ran like the chicken hawk that he is, and it just seems strange that a group of Vets would side with cowards like Bush and Cheney. If I recall correctly, I believe that you actually served in Vietnam so I am in no position to challenge anything you put forth about the conditions or the landscape of what transpired during the war, but since you did serve there I have always been curious why you would want to attack Kerry's service in Vietnam. Do you feel that he was given cherry picked assignments due to his stature and he may have embellished some of the actual facts of what transpired on his tour? Putting politics aside it just seems strange that a person such as yourself would want to attack another fellow vet and yet at the same time support guys that would be the first to tuck tail and run in Bush and Cheney. Nonetheless, DTB have a good holiday and just curious but how many languages does your wife speak is she of Asian heritage?

and a good one to you also MC. She speaks Chinese and Japanese-english is her worst language but has came along way in short time. It is uncanny how quick they pick it up--reading and writing also. I could never learn Chinese.Very tough language as lots of words sound same but can mean different depending of what part ofword you put emphasis on. Vietnamese much easier to grasp as lots of words or phrases have french origin.Chinese as Japanese are very thrifty and savers by nature.Li (my wife) will put large bowl in her bathroom cink and after washing hands take water outside and put on flowers. They are thrifty to point of embarrassment.I met her in China about 5 years ago and visted her there next 2 years and she has been here about 1 year 10 months.I let her do what ever she wishes andthis is her schedule. Works in receiving and shipping at Fruit of the Loom 5 days from 3:30 pm to 11:30--on Mon Wed and Fri also works at Mall from 10am to 2 pm Tue and Thur attends free english classes at Western University. Weekend works at mall and cleans my office bldg and another.
Can't figure out if she is workaholic or justs likes to get away from me :) Has about $12,000 saved after paying cash for motor bike and 99 maxima. Most her friends are carbon copies.
