Cable news has to fill 24 hours with BS. Network news there numbers are much bigger. Does it with about a hour a day. King of the hill remains 60 minutes. Were talking over 7 million every Sunday night. That show would fit cable very well.
Per subject above. I see why there sending money early to Rick. He's down 10 points in last state poll. He told Imus today he hopes to make that up later in year. I guess if he wants to win that would be good idea.

Grouping CNN and MSNBC with FNC is not a direct comparison. CNN and MSNBC are news organizations. FNC is a news commentary organization that gives a conservative perspective on news events.

The point is that comparing them is not fair. FNC is entertainment, while CNN and MSNBC give news and balanced commentary. You see, that gives FNC an edge because they are able to appeal to all the bitter right wingers who don't like to accept the straight news. It's like the Air America of the right, except far, far more professionally run.

I guess only a "news organization" is able to have chief white house reporters call people "a jerk" and phone into talk shows a little loopy....real professional

I heard him too. Very surprised at him as he is always very professional. Not sure he was drunk and will not take Imus's tongue and cheek approach or editing magic to cast a stone at gregory, but it looked pretty bad for a viable news guy.

As forhim calling McClellan a Jerk? Lets face it he is an asshole, who tells half truths and gets argumentatve and answers nothing.

Not to mention our esteemed VP has said far worse on the floor of Captol hill.

real professional

I was watching Imus this morning and they were laughing about a subject that had nothing to do with Bush or his friends. And he called back about 45 minutes later and continued. Some jet lag was there and could be expected. When he was talking to Imus he had been up over 18 hours. Didn't see that come out any where. As for picking on W H press core. If there not ready to talk or tell truth stay behind the curtain.

No takers on the fair and balanced challenge?

By the way Bill's talking points last night was on the school teacher
Bennish that made comparisons to GW state of union speech and Hitler is to students in high school.

His guest speaker afterwards was attorney for Bennish (same one that represents the Colorado college professor that said we deserved 911)--how can you be more fair??--

The tougher they are the better he lkes it--couldn't figure out after interview who looked worse--Bennish or the attorney:)

Fox is right up there with CNN . You get the left @ one and the right at the other. Neither is fair or balanced. BIll as you call him , is not worth wasting anytime on. He has zero credibility.

Most of the talking heads on the left and the right would have been great in hitlers germany. They always follow party lines and forget the facts or commonsense. They go along with the standard Ba Ba Ba Ba . I don't watch Fox or CNN anymore. I know what they are going to say before they say it. People like charlesmanson, need Fox to tell him what to think.

Takers? On whether Bill O'Reilly is fair and balanced? I guess you are serious, I don't know. Fox News has a long history - and O'Reilly's show is no different in my opinion - of putting up oddball liberals to make the case against their conservative spinsters. He comes up with some very obscure points in many cases, ones that can not be disputed, and makes those the focal point of his barrages and talk-overs of any guest that starts to get the better of him. Ed Schultz has been on his show, was killing him and the other conservative "balancer" on a Bush topic, and he flamed out and mumbled something like "your not dealing with the facts, sir...etc., etc." You claim that the tougher the guest is, the better he likes it? I don't think I agree with a lot of what the attorney said last night (I have not studied the specifics of the situation, either) but he did not let O'Reilly run over him. A couple of times, O'Reilly looked like a deer in headlights, as he could not talk over the guy. Rare, indeed. Big Bill dominates any "discussion" he has that does not go his way (not as bad as Chris Matthews, though) all the way up until he gives the guest "the final word"...and when the guest makes a good summary or point, Bill just signs off or mumbles something about being off-topic, not on point, delusional, etc. Convenient.

Very similar in the Hannity/Colmes show. Perfectly- groomed, shiny-suited master speaker Sean Hannity and the oddball looking, glasses wearing, bad haircut toting Alan Colmes with his annoying style. Viewers assume immediate credibility with Hannity, and assume wacko with Colmes.

I can offer up someone that seems more fair to me on MSNBC than O'Reilly. How about Tucker Carlson? He's even a conservative in his outlook, for the most part. I watched him last night, and he had a great discussion over the Katrina thing and others with a top liberal broadcaster.

You go ahead and call O'Reilly more fair and balanced. Maybe you actually believe it. I don't. And I would LOVE to see him debate Keith Olberman. That would be a destruction of mammoth proportions, in my opinion.

The teacher mentioned above said much more then just mentioning Hitler name. And told them to look at other things thru out history. To help see how things can become a misuse of power if folks leave it happen. He's is right. German people were led down a road of destruction by not speaking up. He never called Bush, Hitler.
When you think about it with all the real big issues presing us. This was best Bill could dig up. One of those issues there trying to make bigger then need.

That teacher story is typical O'Reilly fluff that Fox survives on. Extreme wacko painted as representing the entire left. Do they ever have a story about an extremist on the right? I'd say the ratio is at least 100-1. Certainly no balance there. All moderate Dems would say fire the teacher, but you never get that perspective from Fox shows. You are always left with this impression that you have 2 choices: Support the singled out wacko, or be a hardcore right winger. Since the wacko is always anti-American, it's obvious which way the typical non-thinking viewer will lean.

and heres some more from grapevine your welcome to check for errors :)
Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:

Presidential Loyalties

Jimmy Carter is siding with countries identified by the State Department for human rights violations ? when it comes to the United Nations' proposal to overhaul its Human Rights Commission. Carter told the Council on Foreign Relations that he promised Pakistan, Egypt and Cuba that "the United States was not going to dominate all the other nations of the world in the Human Rights council."

The former president says he called Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to complain that the U.S. insistence on keeping rights abusers off the panel "subverted" his promise. Carter now says, "My hope is that when the vote is taken, the other members will outvote the United States."

Panel Protest

Two Jewish members of an Illinois panel on hate crime have resigned, saying they won't serve alongside Claudette Marie Johnson, the minister of protocol for Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam. Johnson, also known as Sister Claudette Marie Muhammad, refused to criticize or distance herself from Farrakhan's comments at a Chicago rally last weekend, where he accused "Hollywood Jews" of promoting homosexuality and other filth, and blamed "Zionists" for manipulating President Bush into war.

The two commissioners called the remarks "incredibly insulting and racist" and said the panel will carry a "stain of bigotry" until Johnson repudiates them.

Signing for Dollars

The ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee is offering signed copies of a minority report by the committee in exchange for a $60 donation to his re-election campaign. On his personal blog, Michigan's John Conyers tells people the contribution will reserve an autographed copy of "The Constitution in Crisis" ? which relies on the controversial Downing Street memo to accuse the president of "misleading" the country into the war in Iraq.

Conyers tells potential buyers that the money he receives will help return the House to the Democrats giving him, "the power to subpoena Bush administration officials to answer questions and face the consequences for their abuses of power."

Cheap Votes

The Mayor of Appalachia, Virginia, and 13 other residents have been indicted on charges of fixing the 2004 election using bribes of liquor, cigarettes... and pork rinds. A grand jury handed down 917 felony counts against the mayor, a town councilman, and a police captain, who is also accused of taking residents' property and seizing drugs for personal use.

Officials discovered the plot when one local woman complained to election officials that she'd been offered pork rinds in exchange for her vote outside the polling place. The pork product has become fodder for local jokes, but the prosecutor discouraged people from making light of the bribes no matter what form they took, saying, "This is not about the pork rinds. It was never about the pork rinds."

DTB why be so mad at a teacher. And it was not all that bad when you here it all. And you can bet O'Rilley lacking any other new news will play it again to night. But it's OK for Preachers to say all they want in there churches. Good and Bad.

I heard enough from that teacher to know he's incompetent. I'm extra sensitive when it comes to geography classes though. Zero tolerance for innacuracy or blatant partisanship. Better to just watch a few episodes of Where In the World is Carmen San Diego than be subjected to poor and slanted education.

Sometimes I wonder why Wayne gets so quiet after I challenge him about O'Reilly and Faux News. And then I realize why he does that.

Chad I just put up what I think to be factual and of interest to people here. Can't see debating "opinion" with those who would never change their spots regardless. If you find anything flawed--incorrect facts--Micheal Moore chopped quotes ect I'll be more than happy to discuss. But so far the only things I've seen were opinionated remarks vs Mr O and Britt Hume's Grapevine? Either your not searching for misinformation or you can't find any--not the same on the liberal blog sites where misinformation is the norm rather than the exception.

I would suggest if you wanted to assualt fox to use Gibsons segment. He is in fact--far right--boring--and tells only part of the story. I have no use for his one sided BS--and in my view is one of worst commentators on network news.

I still have yet for someone to point out an instance where Fox News reported anything that was not FACTUAL.

Most Americans are sick of this Bush bashing liberal slanted press and the ratings prove it.
