The most important edge we will have in this game will be the mental edge of foregone conclusions. What I mean by that is the Falcons entered the playoffs through the back door. They won in Green Bay when they were not expected to.

The Falcons will not have the same kind of pressure on them now to have to beat a better Eagles team. They will not be embarressed losing to this solid Eagles team. Even losing they can go home with heads held high and watch the Super Bowl with the rest of us. The Falcons time will come in the next two years.

Having collected about 9 grand for each player and coach on the roster, in the Green Bay win, then collect 16 grand for this game, its unexpected richs. Contentment in the NFL creates losers.

They have made the owner, Arthur Blank owner smile bigtime. The first year he owns the Falcons they go to play offs. That is enough for now. They are going in a positive direction. No hurry it will be there next year games.

I posted the above last week. This article was in the Atlanta Journal today 1/13/03 :

" Notwithstanding Beathard's comments about the player's disappointment, I didn't see a lot of devastation in the locker room. A handful of players( Including tackle Bob Whitfield) sat quietly at their lockers, but most players seemed to accept the end of their season with ease. Vick and backup Doug Johnson even shared a laugh about something while dressing."

Contentment in the NFL creates losers. The edge of players emotions cannot be discounted. If we can read the team emotion then we can win BIG !.

Good stuff, Scott. Interesting vantage point.

To extrapolate on what you're saying, I think the reason New England was able to go toe-to-toe w/ the Rams last yr was Belicheck's defensive gameplanning ability. Bill created a confidence in that team, so that they expected to win by executing what they practiced. Sounds simple, but I think it's true.

I agree Chucky

Its the simple stuff that is overlooked and that is where we either win or lose the cash alot of times.

I have found a edge that I think is huge in the Tampa Bay / Philly game.

Only thing is I promised BobbyBluechips that I wouldnt say anything more about this game.

A deal is a deal.
