Fantasy Draft Results

We had our draft last night and I would appreciate your comments, criticisms, and suggestions on a starting line up for this weekend. I'm in a 14 team league which scores 6 points for a td, 1 point for every 10 yards gained rushing/pass receiving and 1 point for every 30 yards passing. We have a flex position at either wr or rb.

Well, here it is with draft positions:

9: Marvin Harrison
20: Daunte Culpepper
37: Warrick Dunn
48: Antwain Smith
65: Orlandis Gary
76: Todd Pinkston
93: Kevin Johnson
104: Tai Streets
121: Lamar Gordon
132: Adrien Peterson
149: New Orleans Defense
160: Joe Nedney
177: Vinnie Testaverde

After the draft, heres my buyers remorse:

Round 1: I passed on the likes of A. Green, T. Henry, J. Lewis, C. Dillon, F. Taylor to pick the first non running back. Mistake?

Round 2: Passed on E. George, W. Green, C. Garner, T. Barber and C. Martin to take Duante. I know Dawgball would love this pick.

Round 3 through 5: Now I'm scrambling for running backs and the best available were the putz's listed above. Passed on some nice second tier wide receivers.

Round 6 through 8: Now I'm filling gaps at wide out.

Round 9 through 10: Praying for injuries.

Round 11 through 13: Who cares. Took Vinnie because the Jets are playing Buffalo at home during Duante's bye week and this was the best matchup during week 6.

I know if Harrison and Culpepper go down, Eddie will go down quicker than a $50 whore. I plan on obviously starting the first 3 running backs. Should I start Streets or Johnson with Harrison and Pinkston? Or should I start 4 wide outs and 2 running backs? If so, which two running backs would you start?

I'm not real happy with my selections as my initial plan was to take the best available rb, rb, and rb, in the first three rounds. I coulda had Ahman in the first, Eddie or Tiki in the second and picked up either a solid wide out or McNair in the third. Kinda kickin myself.

Glad you weren't in my college. I can see it now, I do really bad on a final exam and dawgball comes along and says "... you are the dumbest, moron to ever walk the planet, helen keller would have done better on that exam, etc...." yadda yadda yadda

P.S.: McNabb and Manning were taken before I picked the Daunte. Does that somewhat ameliorate my stupidity.

Shouldn't have passed on the stud running backs...I think that will come back to haunt you. Nice to have Harrison but getting Henry, Lewis, or Green probably would have been the better choice.

I dont think Harrison was a bad pick at #9. In fact if the main 7 RBs were off the board thats who I would have taken. I definately would have grabbed Barber or Green with my 2nd round pick over Culpepper. I guess that depends on your point system but generally thats what I would have done.

I play in three leagues, and I have either won them or came in second or third each year. Always draft running backs early, you can pick a decent qb in the later rounds. In one draft last week I picked up Vick in the 6th round and Maddox in the 11th. In the other I picked McNair up in the 8th and Brady in the 11th. Decent qbs with average numbers each week.

While in the early rounds I got Faulk & TOwens

In the other I got Ricky Williams & Charlie Garner. GOOD LUCK

I always load up on RB's early, they are your moneymakers.... I have won quite a few leagues in the past and have almost always taken my QB in the last couple of rds. Always look for injuries that could propel the next Maddox, Warner or Bulger into the starters role.

Eddie...you're fuc**d in this league. Did you get high before the draft? Not only do you not have a good #1 RB, you don't even have a good #2. I'd offer some trade advice but I don't see any bait on your squad. Hope for your sake this wasn't a big money league.....or else you could be driving a used and certified Honda very soon.
