I don't know if this has been brought up on anyone elses thread or not, but just for the sake of stickin to the BCS(which sucks) how would things have played out IF Bucky beat Michigan, therefore having 2 Big Ten teams undefeated that don't play each other? Being a Badger fan, I will say that they are better than a lot of peolpe give them credit for even with their weaker schedule, but I don't think they are an elite team either. Just a scenario that went through my melon yesterday. Any thoughts?

schedule was not tough

schedule was not tough

But it is going a bit far to say that Wisky "is not worth a BCS mention"...

They are 9th in the BCS this week, and very likely to move up as other teams lose...

So, while they are not a #1 or #2 team, they certainly are worth a "mention"

What can I say, that's their schedule.

At least they didn't lose to a team like Oregon State......:mj07:

I think the biggest thing hurting Wisconsin is their coach. If alvarez was still there, and everything played out like it has so far this year, they might be ranked even higher in some of the coaches polls.

they were unranked coming into the season and everyone thought they would be average and they've actually had a good season. If Alvarez was still there you can bet ESPN and other national outlets would give them more coverage or at least mention them a little more.

But if you are gonna fault the Big East for a weak out of conference schedule than you have to fault Wisconsin as well. Bowling Green, Western Illinois, and San Diego State are poor. And ending your season with Buffalo? Its a joke.

They haven't beaten anyone, and their one chance to play a quality team at home, they lost by two touchdowns.

They are a decent team, but they aren't worthy of a BCS Bowl bid. But they do deserve to play after new years so I can fade them against the likes of Texas or Cal or someone.

Alvarez's departure hurt them in their overall media perception. If he was there you might hear more about them, but they aren't one of the top teams in the country in my opinion.

Not True, Mr. Zu..

Not True, Mr. Zu..

Wisconsin played and beat Penn State, who is ranked ahead of Oregon State in the Sagarin ratings....

So you are wrong again.

You are wrong also - Wisky lost early in the season AT Michigan, in a game that was much closer than the final score.

We'll never get to see how good they are this year - similiar to Rutgers, Arkansas, etc - teams with 1 (or 0) losses that won't get a chance due to the media hype teams like USC get (which may be warranted, as they have been good for the last couple of years).

It does bother me to see ND get the pub though - as they are continually overated - how many bowl games have they won the last 10 years?

Wisky has played a simiiliar schedule, fared much better against a common opponent (Michigan - lost by 14 at Michigan, ND lost by 26 AT HOME).

But it's all about Media pub - and we all know that ND and USC are media darlings - no matter how good they are, or how many players they pay (can you say Reggie Bush?)

I'm sorry to use an objective measure

I'm sorry to use an objective measure

I guess only the "Sun Tsu" rankings work for you....

You made a dumb statement, and I easily refuted it....

Sorry if you are not happy about that. Don't say outrageous things, I guess is the lesson to learn there.

I said they were a pretty good team. What more do you want from me. I apologize for getting the venue wrong.

In my opinion they would lose to Ohio St., USC, Florida, Michigan which they did, and even ND, and probably LSU and Rutgers.

I don't think they deserve a BCS bowl game.

But you are right we will never know just like we didn't know with Utah a few years back. Just the way the system works.

My only point I was trying to make is that if Alvarez was still there your cause would be helped a lot more becuase of what he meant and the respect he garnered in the polls. Thats it.

I understand. I think they could beat all the teams you listed but possibly Ohio State. They would give Michigan a game on a neutral field.

I think they would handle LSU, USC, and some of those teams. Definitely Rutgers.

Much was made last year of how great the SEC was - and the Badgers were big underdogs to Auburn - who was going to "destroy" Wisky in the bowl game... and Wisky did the destroying.....

And Wisky is a MUCH better team than last year.

But you are right, due to the system, Wisky, Arkansas and Rutgers will not get a chance.

I just hope it's not USC or Notre Dame - neither of those teams deserve it due to their bad losses.

Actually, the way this game is playing out, it SHOULD be a Michigan-Ohio State rematch.

Let's see if the BCS can get it right this year....

UW-LSU might actually be a matchup in the CapOne Bowl. The Badgers are clearly third best in the Big Ten behind the big guns. I don't think they'd have much trouble with ND, though. I would love to see UW play USC or Texas. I've be very curious to see how those games would play out. I'm just hoping we draw a top-notch team in the bowl so we can either be exposed or validate our ranking... even as a fan/alum, I'm not exactly sure where the team stands. Sometimes I think they could beat anyone, sometimes I'm thankfull for the weak schedule.
