How can you determine how you played this year when you were asked to do what he was..........

No offensive line..........No running backs..........No Wide recievers.........Budda Franks get hurt early in the season...........WITH NO WEAPONS ITS PUT ALL ON THE QB'S SHOULDERS.........

Tell me any other quarterback in the history of the NFL that could have won with this team?????

On top of that there was ok but nothing great.........I know he made a lot of mistakes (interceptions) but a lot of those were tipped balls, guys in the wrong places etc. etc.......

he had a great career and maybe has some left in the tank. But he made some of the worst decisions I've ever seen this year; we're talking ryan leaf decisions. Just chucking up prayers and trying to fit the ball in impossible places. You can't really say he didn't have a back when Gado was putting up 100 almost every game before he got hurt. Sure I'd like to see him back and I think he can still do it with a good team, but theres no doubt in my mind that his skills have eroded. Unless serious changes are made in Green Bay he's probably better off retiring.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Nothing sadder...

Nothing sadder...

Nobody plays forever....he still has skills....just no supporting cast....a trade to Detroit....for picks..unless he stubbornly wants to finish at Greenbay. Time to move or hang up the jock...

NO ONE!!! Favre is in the top 5 QBs list in the NFL today!! As a Packer Fan and Favre Fan I hope he comes back. There were too many injuries for Greenbay to overcome this year and no way i see Favre leaving Green Bay to play for another team.

Favre 4 President! :)

Favre had a bad year. When he had time, he forced throws. Often times, he threw into double and triple coverage.

He had an equally bad season last year, but deflected the spotlight on his performance, by IMMEDIATELY talking of retirement.

Shoulda retired at the end of last year.

this much i know:

if i need a touchdown in the final 2:00 of a football game, there is only one player currently in the game that i'd take over favre and that's tom brady. favre no doubt had a horrific season for a lot of reasons. but that doesn't taint the fact that he is still a top 3 or 4 quarterback in the league even at the tail end of his career.

I agree, Favre had a tough year with NO supporting cast.

But next year won't be any different. I'm guessing that he doesn't want to be remembered as a loser. And that's what will happen AGAIN next year.

Time for him to bow out. His time has come. I respect him.

With Sherman getting fired in Green Bay, does this mean Favre will retire?

I'm starting to think so.. :(

Go out with his head held high. They have nothing in the cupboard. That's why Sherman was fired.

couldn't agree more Mav and chuck. more than the normal amount of injuries not to mention the weak talent to fill the holes. Receivers not fighting for balls would have forced the typical athlete to start crying about the talent around them. Favre hasn't said boo about his lack of supporting cast. Tough and a class act-hard to find these days!

I could see Favre coming back if they hire Mariucci.

Mariucci is an Awful Coach! Where has he ever Won? Not at Cal before the Niners Hired Him . He took over the Walsh/Seifert team and Quickly turned them into Losers.all those high draft picks in detroit and they never got any better. If GB hires him they will be Drafting before my JETS for the next 5 years! And that ain't good my friend.

Favre is the ultimate gunslinger!...He takes his chances... but has the arm to do so by trying to fit the ball into tight spaces...the 2 injuries that really hurt him this season were to Javon Walker (his favorite deep receiver) and Ahman Green (his short safety valve)...but the loss of his two Guards Wahle and Rivera really hurt the O-Line and hampered Favre all season long.

hard to judge how good he is w/out support. john elway was the best to me. he took a team/teams to super bowls early with no top rec or rb to super bowl. not sure how his line was, someone help. orange crush d nothing special. once o line and tdavis came along it was easy.

Farve has lost interest in the game well over a year ago. He's had more than one play were he has made an unbelievable stupid decision and then justs laughs it off. His skills were dropping big time. The difference between being an NFL player and a very athletic mailman is miniscuel (spelling). If he wasn't so well liked across the country, he would be getting shelled right now. Seen the same thing happen with Payton, though he wasn't in the decision making position that Farve is in. Many many teams suffer injury hardships and don't puke games as bad as he was.

Everyone seems to be forgetting, even when he was a better player YEARS AGO, on better teams, he would throw picks like crazy when he felt like the game was on his shoulders. Nothing has changed. He just did it more this year on a worse team. Of course he did win many games in the closing seconds, but he also cost his team dearly EARLY IN GAMES.

I'm sick of people making excuses for his horrid play.

He was a great qb.

It's over now (or definitely should be).

He sucked......he sucked last year and he shoulda retired the year before that. As a wise man once said, 'It's better to burn out than fade away'......too late.....oh well. To really stir the pot, he was always a hot dog anyway. How many times did he wait until the end to win games just to make himself look good when he could've had games locked up in the first 3 quarters. Not saying he wasn't one of the best because being a hotdog doesn't change the fact that he's a 'Hall-of-Famer' ironman. I hope he comes back next year so I can make another bundle going against the fudgepack!

i could not agree more with IO. media darling gets the eternal hall pass. desmond howard won the sb - after that, what else. damn good qb for a long time, but his mistakes of late are inexcusable for being such a verteran. you can't have it both ways. either a qb makes good decisions or he doesn't. favre is very talented still, but his decision making is questionable at best and no one player should be above the team. period. it is obvious that favre is above the others because nothing is ever "his fault". don't hate him, just don't like it when constant excuses are made for bad decisions.

Brett Favre is one of the best QB's to ever play the game, period.

Favre, the NFL's undisputed Ironman, has more heart and desire to win than anyone. His toughness and sportsmanship are unparalelled, no matter in which sport you look.

It's sad, almost depressing, to see him flounder during his last couple of seasons at Green Bay, where the man is practically considered a God.

What have you, Brett Favre, done for us lately?

Look not at what he's done lately, because he alone cannot be blamed for injuries and/or the team assembled around him in recent years.

Maybe Brett should have retired when he first had the notion. I'm sure he knew Green Bay was entering a rebuilding phase, and the days of glory and home-invincibility were long gone.

But no. Not Brett Favre. He's a champion, and he just loves the game too much.

It's hard, so, so hard for him to just let go. A champion like Brett wouldn't have it any other way.

Desmond Howard winning the super bowl? Please... I'm not trying to take anything away from him, but he only had a couple good years. I have followed the pack the last 20 years thru good and bad. Our defense won the super bowl that year. As for Favre, in the first series of the game... TD. I feel the ultimate reason we have underachieved the last several years is because of the idiot we let be the head coach, Sherman, who got fired after the last game in very much the same fashion as Minnesotas idiot, Tice. Not trying to be a homer as the only game I took the year was the cincy game in which they covered.

As for retirement, I would be shocked if he hung it up. There is a lot of promise with Jim Bates being very solid as Def Cord. They really need someone who is an authoritarian to be successful IMO. Sherman has to be the biggest Nancy. At least Holmgren would hold people accountable, especially Favre.
